Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Ss, right?

Same size on the 2015-2017s as the 2018s, and I'd like them to be my new tires. But Tirerack.com doesn't list them.

Can anyone be of any help on this subject?

Called Tirerack.com, they're back-ordered until next spring.

Correct. They are in high resolution in the latest walkaround pictures. I have no idea where you get the size needed for the Mustang.

Sizes haven't changed, so he's using the current gen sizing.

I was looking at getting these tires for my 19X10 Forgestars. $305 per tire. Yikes. Amazing tire though.

Really good choice on Ford's part, switching to the MP4S. PZero's aren't entirely bad, but the MPSS/MP4S is better.

Sure they cost $300 for replacements, but consider if you buy a new car, you're getting $1200 worth of MP4S with your '18 mustang as compared to only $800 worth of PZero on the '17s.

Are we able to put a set of the front 19x9 wheel and 255/740/19 tire size in the rears of a PP? Would it work for square with a/s for winter and dd?

Gotta pay to play :)

The treadwear rating on the Michelin's is higher than the Pirelli's as well, so they will last a fair bit longer.

As far as I can tell the Pilot Sport 4S does not come in the Performance Pack sizing of 255/40R19 275/40R19, so you'd have to go to a lower 35 profile.

Or go for the Pilot Super Sport which comes in PP sizing.

Also if you're looking to buy... a lot of vendors are doing $70 off a set of 4. Not much, but it's nice. Costco specifically is doing a Michelin deal now and looks like Tire Rack is also doing it.

Probably a contract between Michelin and ford.
Michelin lists both the 255/40x19 and the 275/40x19 PS 4 S on their website. I didn't check any retailers for availability. I suspect that other than supplying 2018 Mustang GT PP oem use Michelin's focus at this time is to sell remaining inventory of the previous PSS tires.

Now when Ford says they have a special MSPS4s for the new Mustang are they full of it? Could we just get a new set from ATC or BIG O and they'd be the same tire?
According to friends of mine at Tire Rack it is common and maybe even standard practice for car manufacturers to work with tire manufacturers in order to customize tire characteristics for specific cars. This could mean more or less grip, better or worse tread life, harder or softer ride, etc.

Also, when a local Discount Tire store damaged the sidewall of one of my oem GT PP Pirelli rear tires the manager (a trusted friend) said that he specifically ordered the Ford spec tire to replace it. If you look at Tire Rack's specs for many of the tires used on European cars some sizes and versions will indicate "Mercedes", "Porsche", etc.

That said, I have no idea how much difference this makes since by the time we buy replacement tires the originals are so worn that we won't be able to determine how the new tire's characteristics differ from the original manufacturer spec version. I suspect that any PS4S "version" in GT PP sizes will perform very similar to oem spec compared to say changing to a different brand of tire with a significantly lower price. I also don't know how you could tell at the local generic tire store what version of the tire they "really" installed unless there are spec codes on the sidewalls (I've never looked).

Note that Carl Widmann said that the 2018 GT PP is the first North American manufacturer OEM use of the PS4S so to some degree Ford may be "driving" the design specs for at least the GT PP sizes.

Also note that tire characteristics vary based on size. Tire Rack tests with BMWs which not only are very different from Mustangs they also use different sizes. The main thing is that TR testing is a very good indicator of how any spec and size performs in general and in comparison to similar tires from other manufacturers.

This is the email I received back on July 28th from TireRack:
"Hi Andrew,

We have part numbers built but Michelin has not made any of these yet that we have been able to order. I show the Pirelli P-Zero is also an original equipment option for the 2018 Mustang GT performance package and they may only be coming with those to start with. You can get in line for a set with an order but at this point we do not have a production date so it could be a while.
Thank you,
Seth"

Seth may have some incorrect info. Everything I've seen in pictures and in press releases, etc. indicates 255 and 275 F/R PS4S for the GT PP and the current Pirelli 255's front and rear for the EcoBoost PP.

Time will tell.

I meant I don't know where you buy them. Not in stock anywhere.
