2018-2019 Manual with Whipple?

Looking for feedback from owners of 2018+ cars that have installed a Whipple supercharger. How is the transmission holding up with the added power? How is it driving on the street? I am planning on adding boost in the near future and leaning towards Whipple because I want the instant torque. Also, why did you choose Whipple over Procharger or Vortech? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Mine is holding up fine with mid 700 to the wheels. The gearset in the MT82-D4 was upgraded over the previous generation, so should be good for a while there. Only thing that slightly worries me is the shift forks, but I'm hoping that by the time that I break one there will be an aftermarket upgrade to rebuild with. I chose the Whipple because of the quality and also their service. I've had Centri blowers in the past, and just decided to go the PD route this time. These cars will do well with whatever kind of boost you throw at them, so it really just depends on your goals with the car. I do have to say that the Whipple does look really good under the hood although that wasn't a consideration of mine when I bought it.

You should be fine. I'm still on the stock clutch, and pretty sure that is on borrowed time, but it's got about 4K miles with the Whipple so far and it's still holding up.

I have an 18 with roughly 4,500 miles on it. It was my DD up until about a month ago when I bought a truck for the winter. Transmission is holding just fine at roughly 640whp (stage 1 whipple).

My reasoning for going whipple was to keep my factory warranty. I sort of regret that but then again I don’t. I didn’t buy a brand new loaded premium GT not to have a warranty but then again wish it had more power. The car runs well but I was anticipating more. We’ll see what numbers it runs at the track come spring time! If it’s not what I want I guess the additional modding will begin!

Edit: the car drives just like stock until you get on it and still gets pretty decent MPGs.

I chose the Whipple over anything else with a manual because of the instant hit off the throttle. I went Mac daddy on upgrades though with the 10 rib kit, $2500 Fore fuel system, ID1050X injectors, 3.625” pulley, 20% OD crank pulley, oversized HE, full MBRP exhaust system with their high flow cats, PBD tune and Signature Speed doing the entire install with OPG/CG. The trans is holding fine for now. I am hoping Bill Calimer will make the billet gears for the new ‘18 gear ratios otherwise I am still on the stock trans and clutch. It made the 978 rwhp with the 3.625” pulley and made the 898 on the 3.75” pulley. I suspect the 4” pulley would make 750 rwhp. Good luck with your decision.

I bought the car and whipple kit through Beechmont Ford. It’s some program they offer between Ford and Whipple. Now... we’ll see if they cover anything if something happens. Obviously there are disclosures that certain items are not covered and you cannot add certain mods without voiding the warranty.

If the requirement is instant torque, you’d be wise to take a GOOD look at the Edelbrock kit and compare the torque/power curves. The Edelbrock is ahead for the vast majority of the rev range. It’s really on.y once you go past 6k that the Whipple starts to show any real benefit.
That’s cool if you’re racing, but in the real world, you’re under 6k far more often than not.

I've only driven the car maybe 1200 miles supercharged, I keep it clean indoors with all this sh*t weather here in Indy. No issues with trans - MGW shifter / DSS carbon DS / DSS 1400hp axles. 3.73 rear. I chose the Whipple because I had a ProCharger on my first 15 GT and didn't like that I had to rev it to forever to make power. The Whipple hit is night and day better - especially for a street car and stick car. My humble experience/opinion.

Pretty much echoes everyone I've ever heard that had a centri and went pd. I have yet to meet anyone (in person) that switched from pd to centri.

How do you all think the Roush unit compares with the Whipple in terms of torque delivery under 3K rpms? I'm assuming since the base unit is an Eaton TVS also used by Edelbrock, that comments regarding the Edelbrock unit would also apply to the Roush?

2018+ roush tvs is inferior to whipple and edelbrock due to poor design choices like small restrictive inlet.

I wouldn’t even consider it. I was between the edelbrock and whipple and ended up with the whipple. Either way I don’t think you can go wrong between those two.
