Is there any official word yet or reliable rumors on whether or not they'll be a 2017 year production run of the GT 350?. I really want one but was hoping to wait till 2017.

Top Gear had this to say about the gt350 recently:

"Should you buy one? You’ll be lucky if you can. The standard GT350 will be tough enough to get your hands on, not least because it starts at a ludicrously low $50k. But you can forget putting an R in your garage for a couple of years yet. Ford Performance is only going to build a few hundred a year for the next several years and the waiting list is going to be several miles long. But please try all the same. Cars like this don’t come along very often – and never for just $64k – so you owe it to yourself to at least have a go in one. I guarantee you will not be disappointed."

So note the the part that say for the next several years, not sure why they said that.

2016 will have a production run of 5000+.. So that few hundred is not accurate.

2015 is the limited and numbered year of 137 total.

Yeah I would think with five thousand cars they would be easy to eventually get without a mark up. However, all the dealers I've talked to only have an allocation of 2 for 2016. Thus the local markets are tight and the cars get marked up. Despite an estimated production run of 5000.

They meant the R will only be in the hundreds but I was pointing out the bit about "for the next several years"

Two counts as several, doesn't it?

May not have been around a while but here is the info we seem to know. Top Gear stated Rs, not non-Rs and they are correct that only a few hundred will be built, not 5000+. That number applies to non-Rs. The $1000 buy-in from dealers was for at least one allocation MY 2016 and 2017 so pretty sure you can count on 2017s being built and allocation numbers pretty close to MY 2016. After that nobody outside of Ford knows for sure.

They mean that over the next several years as in the ones that find their way back on the Market USED like the many Boss 302's and GT 500's you can find now....New and Used. Or if any were reserved by a dealer as a showroom draw and is now available for sale.

Scheduled for a 5 year production run. It could be longer if there is no GT350 replacement for Motorsport.

5 years, as of now...

^"Pill" did they officially announce this? Good news if its true.
This was stated waaaaaaay back before the 350 was even shown. Unless Ford Performance's role in Motorsport suddenly diminishes, they will need a Mustang to fill the part.

The GT350 is a different animal compared to the z28. The reason is, the GT350 is a tool developed strictly for Motorsport. They spent 3 years in R&D because this was a homologation effort.

The z28 didn't really have a Motorsport goal nor was it tested as such. Chevy spent zero dollars on the Camaro Motorsport program and pretty much left it up to the teams to develop a z28 for racing.

Ford will get a return on their investment, both in sales and competition. The z28 spent years, and I mean years in R&D and went from ZL1 to 1LE before they decided on cubic inches. They never tested ran with the class like the GT350 did or paid as much attention to US tracks. Chevy spent $$$ and started this z28 project waaaaaay back before the zl1 took its place. They STILL haven't sold all of those cars and seen very little real success in Motorsport, at least honorable success... The 350 is selling and is actually quite a handful in racing... these two vehicles couldn't be any farther apart, no matter how bad they try and convince you otherwise.

Just like the GT500 was supposed to be! Right? They are going to build fewer GT350s than can be sold. That is right too, isn't it? The moon is made of green cheese. We all believe that one too.

I think you're wrong. GT500 will come out and it will compete with the 6th Gen ZL1.

The 6th Gen Camaro SS is 51K fully loaded, The GT350 (Non-R) Will out handle and out power the Camaro so Ford will have a Hot car & as with any new vehicle initial production is slow, demand is high, which reflect 10K + ADM's
