It's an oil consumption issue on some of the voodoos -- that can lead to boom if the oil gets low. I have a 2017, not used to checking oil frequently. DiscoveI had a 2017 GT350 that I was not kind to. Nothing like a car screaming at 8500 rpm’s in 1st and 2nd gear and it’s just wanting more. It is a drivers car, you will feel the car, it’s not numb, and it’s exciting. Even being 2017 and the engine blows from oil starvation it can still get replaced under warranty. The numbers are low but the percentage was high enough to cause concern with ford to take care of the gt350 owners. If it was me again, I’d have no problem buying another 2017 and it’s easy to do a piston/ rod drop in with tighter ring tolerances (if keeping NA). If there is oil consumption just keep an eye on it to prevent oil starvation which is where the fun happens. Also, replace the valve covers with GT500 ones as the gt350 covers are prone for leaking.
If it doesn't burn oil, you won't have issues. IF it burns oil and you don't keep checking it, it may blow. The issue is oil consumption, not durability.I'll chime in here. I bought a 2017 GT350 new and payed sticker (which was hard to do at the time). After 5 years (yes...Im out of warranty), the car has been flawless and continues to run STRONG. Zero issues after 13K. I cant bring myself to sell it due to the endless smiles it provides. Dont let them tell you the gen 1 engines are problematic, as they are not. Car uses almost no oil. Good luck. If you get a 350, you will not be sorry.
