You can mount it anywhere you want within reach of the cable. It's that little black box with a white sticker on top to the left of the speaker. Yes you need to remove the entire panel to access the connections. But it really is a lot easier than it looks. Requires ZERO tools except maybe a plastic trim removal tool to make it easier.

Spring is almost here so after sitting on this for the last few months finally installed today. Clever device really. I have it set for 7mph one touch and sport start mode..soon as it's warm enough I'll take it for a moving test. But I don't expect any issues as it works in the garage.

I am really enjoying this device. Here in Dallas we had some great top down weather earlier in the week. Now not so much. Cold and rainy. As a result, I have been remote starting a lot. This does not allow the auto sport mode to function. Small annoyance.

I am surprised at how satisfying it is to push the top down or up button and not have to hold it.

I have mine set to 19mph but only use it at 5 to 10 mph. Wind was blowing so hard the other day I was afraid to put it down sitting still.

I noticed that "Mode" kept cycling until I pushed the "Ok" button then it defaulted to normal. This was in regular start. I'll have to plug in again and verify my settings.

I just put mine in its working perfectly.. The more I use it, the more I love it! its definitely a must have at this point... Make sure you set you driving setting on the one where it remembers what mode you last had it set on.

I want one but don't know I can justify the cost especially since my car doesn't get that much use. with that said I did manage to justify the cost of upgrading to led cluster. lol... so who knows maybe this summer I'll pick one up..

Got that but I don't know of a mode where it remembers your last mode...and I don't see this as an option in the Smartop ...I know there's a short period after you shut down where you can restart in whatever mode you were in prior to shut down. Maybe I'm over thinking this?

From the manual for the SmartTop;
Function 4 - Drive Mode ( 0=OFF / 1=MEMORY / 2=SPORT+ )

This function automatically switches the drive mode either back to where it was or always into "Sport+" mode after starting the engine. By factory the car forgets the setting immediately once turned off.

• Setting 1 remembers and activates the last used drive mode.
• Setting 2 always switches to Sport+ Mode.

Have ordered one of these but will take a few weeks to get here so thought would get familiar with it by downloading the manuals. Looking through the Installation manual I am a bit confused.

In picture 11 it says:
Connect the plug from the module harness (1) to the socket here, What socket are they referring to ? then connect the original plug Which plug are they referring to ? with the matching socket (2) on the harness. Make sure they latch into place securely

And In Picture 12 it says:
Connect the module itself. To which plug would that be ?

Hopefully it will become obvious when I actually have it.

When you get to the part where you unplug the cable that's around the speaker, one part of that is the socket and one part is the plug. Basically you're going to separate that connection, insert the module's cables in the middle, and the third and last cable/plug you'll have, goes into the module. It really will become self evident when you're installing. Things only plug in to one thing, so you can't mess it up.
