2017 Build Dates

Hi Everyone, I just received notification that Ford has pulled my 2017 GT350 order and it will be built the week of June 2nd. I wasn't expecting to get a build date until June or so. This was a huge surprise to me that I already have a build date and this even surprised my dealer quite a bit.

Has anyone else received a 2017 build date yet?

Btw, my build is Lightning Blue with white stripes, and Electronics package.

Damn! Nice! I guess Job 1 for the 350s is the same as the regular Mustangs. Maybe they'll still hold them for longer though.

Very cool, that means the machine is well oiled, hopefully those with 2017s get their cars with much less anxiety than us MY16 folks

Yes, my dealer emailed me the build date along with vin and some other things.

That's code for "we can't build everything at once so it hasn't been picked to be built yet".

So is the MY17 going to be a little earlier to dealers then usual, don't they usually start to show up at the end of August/ early sept?

This sounds like they will be at the dealers in beginning of Aug/ Late July.

Perhaps we need a sticky for all the new owners/orders to read about the process everyone just went through, since im sure the same questions will get asked over and over.

-Order date is largely irrelevant, when your car is built has nothing to do with when you order. Some folks who ordered on the same date had months and months separation in terms of when their cars were delivered. With that being said, priority code on the order is also not that relevant unless your dealer has multiple allocations.

-Once your order is "pulled" it will get scheduled and built relatively quickly, its the ford regional reps who do this not so straight forward process of pulling orders and assigning build priority. Your order will sit on unscheduled material hold until it is pulled, it doesn't necessarily mean anything is actually on hold

-Build priority is dictated by a few factors, main one seems to be dealer size. The larger dealers who sell tons of mustangs will get their cars built first, smaller dealers with 1 allocation will generally have to wait longer. I'm sure there is some palm greasing and line hoping during this process, but nothing most will be able to do anything about.

-Once your car is built, it could be delivered in a few days or a month or longer. Really depends on where your dealer is located and how things are going with the rail companies. Again, not much you, your dealer, or Ford will do about it once its released for shipping

With that being said, I placed my order 5 days after order banks opened in June of 2015. My car sat on unscheduled material hold for 6 months, was scheduled before the holiday shutdown, then built in mid January. I don't expect 2017 owners needing to wait as long. 2016 production seems to have been delayed by 3-4 months, they really didnt get into full swing until Jan 2016

Interesting how much they have been able to ramp up R production. Did Carbon Revolution finally deliver a giant boatload of CF wheels?

2017 production should maintain the 700+ car levels/month they are at now. Yeah, they technically built some 2015s but volume was so low it looks like production wasn't dialed in until pretty late in the year for the 2016s. Must have been agonizing for all you early order folks.

The other interesting detail is what kind of volume they will build for 2017. Averaging 700 cars/month would be over 8K cars...a big jump from 2016. Does anyone know if they plan to stick with ~ 5K cars/year?
