I wouldn't be surprised to see the next gen Camaro arrive with the 8 speed used in the 2015 vette (and z06). This means it could be possible to see it in the hipo versions of the next Camaro as well. Ford may be forced to offer one soon in order to stay competitive in that regard.

Very true, it seems that is the direction everyone is headed. Really, the Z is the outlier right now...is there any other competition that doesn't offer it? Hellcat, Beemer, Audi, vette...etc all have an auto

An auto would be fantastic. I know a lot of purests would say it mean you are disconnected from the car, but many people don't feel that way (or most cars would be offered with a manual). There should always be a manual option, but an 8 speed with a fast shift is fun to drive too.

I know I'd go for it if t was an option. (1) My wife doesn't want to drive a manual (this could be a good thing if I don't want anyone else driving the car) and (2) the car will still be my DD as I can't afford an expensive SVT as a "toy" so it would be nice in traffic.

As long as it would shift quick enough and not overheat on a track...I'd be cool with it.

Ford is working on 9-gear box with GM. It is suppose to be designed, to offer many models to handle any situation.

The 9-speed is for FWD platforms. For RWD they are working on a 10-speed.

I just don't like the development with GM...they can't even handle ignitions, why should I trust them with a transmission? :jester:

Well the manual transmission is becoming the outlier. It is a shorter list for sports cars or muscle cars with manual transmissions and getting shorter everyday. So yes we will see automatic in the shelby or svt at some point, but when I have no idea. As well is it a dual clutch which is a fancy automated manual gear box or more traditional torque converter auto is unknown.

If they develop and offer a sophisticated dual clutch transmission, it would be worth looking at. If all they do is offer the upcoming 10-speed slushbox, they may as well slap in a C6 and go drag racing with it.

Just because they are working with GM (or any other company for that matter) doesn't mean the quality will be compromised. If anything, the company with more quality issues stands to benefit more from the company with fewer issues. I am willing to wager that this alliance will help make a better product cheaper than either company could make on their own.

They certainly won't lose any sales by giving people the option, I would argue that sales would increase.

When you start talking performance times, the auto makes perfect sense for Ford to deliver a faster 0-60 1/4 mile car which in turn will impact sales.

Too early to tell, but if Ford not allowing the performance package on GT auto's is any indication I'd say we're still a ways out from seeing an SVT with an automatic.

Yeah, I never considered that... Not that I would want an automatic equipped GT350 but, I think the option may be a good idea on say, a GT500.

I would be onboard for a paddle shift sequential though. I'd sh!t myself if they offered a sequential Getrag. That's a real road racing transmission.

i dont like these dual clutch systems, they are expensive to repair and my AUDI had so much problems with that shit...from that time i went with a good old torque converter automatic.

I really hope they offer such a thing like in the Hellcat or in the Camaro ZR1 with fast paddles.

Any updated info on an automatic transmission option?

I want this car, but only as an automatic.

If your talking about a Porsche level of Automatic like the one in the Turbo Panamera I test drove, sure, but not the standard 6 speed. norfolkanway man.
