Hi all. New member here. I've had my eye on purchasing a GT350 for a very long time. I've done the research, and decided I really wanted a 2019 or newer for the Gen 2 motor. Unfortunately, finances wouldn't allow for that, so I ended up coming across a very clean 2016 with only 2250 miles on it. Upon receiving and inspecting the car, it appeared very clean, ran good, etc. I prioritized an oil change at Ford, then headed down the street to replace a weak battery. Immediately after installing the battery, the car's check engine light came on with the following codes:

P1534 - Restraints deployment indicator circuit
P0024 - B camshaft position timing, over advanced bank 2
P0025 - B camshaft position timing, over retarded bank 2
P26FE - Exhaust flow control valve A control performance

In addition, I've notice a fuel smell from time to time both in car and in garage after driving, and most concerning when at low RPM's and rolling onto the throttle, the car will hesitate and lack power.

Unfortunately I do not have warranty. I've scheduled an appointment with Ford service, but want to know what I'm possibly getting into beforehand. Did I make a mistake not purchasing a 2019 with warranty?

Regards,
Scott

After you changed the battery, did you do a BMS reset?
Hi Bob, I did not. I'm not familiar with what a BMS (battery management system?) reset is? Can I perform this myself? In full disclosure, the poor throttle response and gas smells were being experienced before the battery change, but I cannot say for sure if the car had a dead/disconnected battery and if the car ever had codes cleared prior to me.

I’m bett’n the codes will be a simple fix. Try not to let it get you down on the car.

I gave it a shot. The BMS reset worked as intended with me receiving the battery flashing 3 times. Unfortunately, it didn’t clear the codes or solve the problem. Hopefully I’ll know more after the 31st.

I agree. I had a camshaft position sensor error on one of my 17s a while back. It was a frayed wire at a connector. 16s were a great year. I dont hear of too many problems with them. If you are mechanically inclined, you can get a copy of a shop manual and troubleshoot a lot of this yourself. Otherwise, I'd get the problem corrected and buy a warranty on the car.
