Paint on all panels, should be the same depth, especially if painted by robotics.
As far as the panels go, I would like to see a maximum of 3-5mm difference. If I were to buy a GT350 that's built in the same factory, I would have the same expectations. The comment with 500k car is not necessary. Cars in 2016 should be put together well, not like I've seen in the forums.

paint i can get, but a caliper just seems unnecessary... If you can't tell with a solid eyeball and your fingers then its close enough...

Mine came with the passenger door hitting the front fender when you opened it - how's that for quality?

This is what I'm mostly worried about, and will keep a careful eye out for when I open both doors, trunk and hood. No one wants to touch those area's up, and QC should be checking that on every car leaving the lot, absolutely unacceptable for paint rub.

My 2015 that Ford took back under FL Lemon Law had the passenger door striking the fender and it was rubbing off paint. Ford's field engineer said it was within tolerance, to which I stated he should be fired for being a poor engineer if he felt that is normal!

My 2016 GT also had the same thing but I refused delivery until it was adjusted and repaired.

I learned a hard lesson about Ford's piss poor QC and customer service under Mark Fields. I should've left the 2015 EcoBoost with the dealership and refused delivery instead of trusting that a new vehicle warranty actually means something when I was told by the selling dealer to just bring it back after purchasing and they would take care of everything. I don't recall ever hearing the non sense excuse about checking other Mustangs on the lot for the same issue and if they have it too it's normal and deal with it when I had an issue with my previous Mustang.

Mark Fields in charge is the single worst thing to ever happen to Ford. Customer service is now non existent and Ford could care less about customers. In the past when dealing with Ford it was completely different and they actually treated customers with respect and did all they could to remedy the situation. Now they tell you to pound sand!

Thanks for the response, I'll definitely not sign the delivery paperwork until they remedy any production issues. I don't want the hassle of having them repair after the fact. Once they have the money, especially because my agreement is to pay via cheque in full, they seem to not care anymore. :(

UPDATE

Hi guys,

Picked up the car last night, with 10 miles on the clock. Here are the issues. Hood gaps are wrong, I'll take care of that.

Blend date 2/29/16 (less than a month ago)

Trunk on left side is not aligned. (Not sure how to adjust this)
Any advice? See below

Front left hood gap

Front right gap (Significantly smaller)

Left side of trunk.

:(

^^ is that it? You can try adjusting the trunk by the bolts holding it to the trunk arms but as I remember there was not much play. I did think about adjusting the arm itself but didn't get around to that. I placed washers on that taillight to push it out to match the panel instead.

Sixth - That is great advice, I didn't think of pushing out the light with washers. It's still cold here in the Canada (snowing in March) so I will tackle this in a month or so.

Much to my surprise after reading all about this panel gap shenanigans.

My 2016 GT Premium PP came 99% perfect. I say 99% because it's pretty darn good and only the gap between the front fender and door varied on one side but is close enough for me to accept.

Good luck with the adjustments. My car was built on a Wednesday if that matters.

I would say you are very lucky, I did cross my fingers when I walked up to it, but it has those two issues. It did not have any rear window glass issues, no paint drip problems, no foreign material in paint (I will take a closer look when winter is over), no clunking tranny, no vibrating driveshafts (yet).

I consider myself lucky in a way as well.

I had that same trunk panel misalignment. Right side trunk black panel stuck out about 1/8", but left side was 1/4", making it a little beyond acceptable to my eye. (It was highlighted since it was a black panel against a yellow background.)

On pickup day, the dealer body shop whacked on that area from the inside with a big rubber mallet. Git er dun! Now both sides match = 1/8" protrusion.

I joined and read this forum for a few months before my ordered car arrived. So I was trained to know what to look for, and to be very picky. I told the dealer that I needed to inspect my car with some privacy and for as long as I wanted. They had the car parked in a secluded lot with plenty of room all around it! I brought a check list, and spent an hour inspecting things.

Result? Perfect Enough.

9 months later, and I keep checking for more things that I read about on this forum. And most times things are fine, or I can make small adjustments myself. If my car is any example, then I would have to say that Ford probably has improved QC with the 2016's.

My trunk lid was like that, dealer adjusted it & it's a lot better (but still a little low).
Seems to be a common issue, I see it on a lot of cars sitting on the dealer lots.

I just got back in a 16 on Monday. When I went to the dealer I walked around the car and checked all the areas I had problems with on my old 15, then checked areas where others have reported problems. I would say it is 98% acceptable. My rear windshield is still kind of dipped on one side but not as bad as before. Hood/fenders were a little off but that is something I can fix myself. First mod I did were the Redline Hood struts I had bought for the 15 I had lying around. Threw them on and it kinda set the hood up almost perfectly already (after loosening the hood), then adjusted just a little and got it within tolerance. I may adjust it again though because I am a little OCD. I still need to mess with the trunk a bit too

I had a '15 Black 50th Anniv. 401A packaged GT that had all kinds of flaws. Kept it 2 months and traded it for a '16 Ingot Silver 400A packaged car and ZERO flaws. Best thing I could have ever done.
