Takes one to know oneLOL somebody works in IT.
This isn't really any different than it is now. Base cars get basic Sync, while premium cars get the full MyFordTouch. This whole cutover to sync 3 confuses the piss out of me.
So the base (non-touch) screen will be Sync 2 with the premium Sync 3? God - Ford sucks at cutover change.
This.Given the history of at least one version of MyFordTouch having problems previously, what are your thoughts regarding Sync 3 being well sorted out in 2016 models? Perhaps software updates may resolve any problem areas?
This.
Why does everyone assume the Sync 3, developed by now-third-tier company Blackberry, is going to be all that? Blackberry also did Cadlillac's Cue, which has been uniformly panned far more than has MFT.
I think the capacitive screen is a good upgrade. Shoulda done that in the first place. But I really don't think MFT software is that bad and would not assume that just any change will be an upgrade. Sort of a "be careful what you wish for" thing.
Fingers crossed for that to be what happensNot sure about you guys, but unless the '16 offers the PP in a GT vert, just gonna order soon
Very true. I find a huge amount of the hate on MFT is the MS backend, which I'm not defending, but Sync 3 being QNX based does not guarantee a great system. (It certainly looks good in the videos.) IMO, MFT needed twice the hardware to run at the speed needed to make it great. The UI is actually pretty good, it's just no where near as snappy as it should be at this date. The Cadillac system is crap, you're correct but that has a lot to do with the UI which was deisgned by GM not blackberry, The same blackberry system is behind Uconnect which surprisingly I've found to be one of the best infotainment systems out right now, simple and easy to use. Its down the manufacturer UI to get it right though. I do agree with you that MFT isn't as terrible as it's being made out to be, but when stacked up against some of the others I've used I found it to be a tad too cumbersome and in need of refinement, which from what I've seen, Sync 3 provides.
GT auto hopefully will happen, I feel pretty confident about that. The only thing that has me moderately hopeful for a convertible PP is the fact that it's been done before with this model, albeit only once.Very true. I'd say a GT automatic with PP is a good possibility for 2016, but a GT PP convertible has a very low probability of happening.
