Only Chevy would take a Doppleganger to Nurburgring for testing... Only Camaro5 people would actually believe that.

It has a huge roof-line, huge doors, huge fenders and quarters, a large spanning hood, lots of glass front and back... a big ass and a pug face. Riding on 19/20's, large disc...

Just a side by side comparison of the Mustang and Camaro show you just how not small the Camaro is. It isn't anywhere near the size of the ATS.

Pants are about to be sh!t...

Now the topic at hand is if they are losing interest or not. I feel a majority of the base customer has forgotten the Camaro in general. Current sales show that and, as I warned over on Camaro5 in 2011, the car would need a refresh before they met Chally levels. Are the hardcore losing interest? No, I don't think that is so...

Are they losing interest in this???

Yeah, they are NOT happy about the look this time. Another thread suggest that GM has dropped the ball already. Well... the styling wasn't mentioned but, I have a feeling the styling will be an issue.

A deep front 3/4 shot appears to be identical to the 5th Gen. This isn't so bad. I think it embraces the 5th Gen and attempts to rework some of the 3rd/4th Gen into the car. It looks like a Chevy for sure... A problem right off the bat is airflow to the radiator for engine cooling. There needs to be more airflow available. This is going to require an AC delete on all high performance versions of the car for some cooling at least.

The pic above makes it appear GM has not dropped the ball. Although I think a 5.2 Gen is a very bad idea, this front 3/4 works very well. It has a lot more than just 5th Gen in it, it has same 3rd/4th Gen something in it.

This is sort of an unfinished render. I'm not crazy about this right now...

They look a little too mature in my opinion. It appears very 5th Gen with it's corners tucked in. There is very little grace in the design, it is a battering ram in the front with a very poor cooling design. The car is probably just as wide (maybe wider) than the 5th Gen both overall and in track. The wheelbase hopefully came down and wasn't just pasted from a copy.

Good lord... The rear end is all wrong on this thing... Unfortunately, I feel that Chaz is very close, about the same as he was with the Mustang. Something has got to be changed on this. I seen a decent resolution proposed and posted it down below. The Camaro won't survive an extended MY15 if sales are already in the crapper as is. This won't help swing numbers back up either. Nobody is waiting in line or asking "When can I get one" like they were with the Mustang. This is a bad thing...

I think those tail lights are kickin' some ass man... Why seperate the Corvette and Camaro so, to gimp one of the cars to make the other appear supreme. It would have been better but some things can be shared. The Camaro will die without some Corvette in it...

Here is what I am talking about for airflow. This is similar to the ATS as far as the opening goes. I don't mind the design either. It is a 2nd/3rd/4th and 5th Gen hybrid. The bumper cover would need to be a little bit wider on the Black concept. The first pic, the red 70's inspired sketch won't work unless they put a bumper cover on it. They could of course set the engine back but it would be hard to do on a 109 inch wheelbase and still have 4 seats. The 6th Gen absolutely needs more total airflow area in the fascia. The 2014 needed air bad, so bad they hollowed out the Bowtie and removed it altogether in racing... The 6th Gen looks to be just as bad if not worse!!!

I love Chaz's renders. I think he does outstanding work overall. I was impressed with the S550 work obviously as well as the current Camaro he is working on. I just don't think the design is winning enough attention. This is a design flaw at Chevy not with Chaz mind you.

Some concept art of that intern design...

The 6th Gen does look a little wider than the 5th Gen. Not as tall as the 5th I think... Looking at the spy pic and the fascia, it has a sort of crease on the edge of the head light assemble giving it some flare.

The basic design looks to be a trimmed 5th Gen. The muscle has been mellowed out and the mass on both ends has ben reduced only to have the whole car widen... Or at least appear to widen and maybe move to a more optimal Wheelbase:Track Ratio. It needs a 65-66 up front and a 64-65 in the rear. It would be 76-77 inches wide overall though... maybe more...

So... Do you think GM has dropped the ball? It is still a little early but, judging from the basic shape of the 6th Gen, it isn't as far as they should have gone.

Pull the middle lights out from both front and rear renders and I think this would be an awesome car. Perhaps square the rear just a smidge more, maybe some broader shoulders.

well looks like someone found a set of headlights from the 6th gen camaro guys what you think?
I seen that posted last night, I put in effort to get an answer from Automotive IQ about the part... It does in fact appear to be an Alpha based Camaro's headlamp.

He will most likely be fired :( I believe he was selling the part as a 2015 Camaro and really didn't know the difference. It is unfortunate...

You see how the Alpha Camaro's headlamp has a sort of "wink" towards the front?

Also seen here...

According to some of these early shots, the 6th Gen isn't a small car mind you. It appears it may be using a larger track. In some shots, it even appears to have a large wheelbase too.

The 6th Gen is a large, flat vehicle. The 5th Gen was on stilts compared to the 6th.

The 6th Gen's roof appears to be wider and larger than the 5ths. The car looks larger from the A-Pillar up... Lower to the ground and maybe not as thick but wider overall.

Quite a good looking lamp, although I'm not keep on mixing what looks like LED and Halogen lamps......make them all LED.

This lamp could have nothing to do with the production lamps. There are identifiers on the tag that suggest this is merely a development piece. There are many variations of exterior lighting before one is decided on (FED).

While I believe the basic layout is final, the innards are likely to be different. It has a lot in common with the Chevy SS lamp.

I am getting the feeling that the Camaro will have some SS similarities in the face.

Eidt: Although, some of the innards are similar to the Corvette technology too so...

Based on the Cow-camo pics and these "Close-to-Production" headlights, the 6th Gen may suffer from a small-eyes complex. Not only is the upper grill too small, the headlights may be slightly too small for the fascia (Think the Alien Jeep Cherokee).

Now the right side/passenger side is up for bidding...

Maybe this is how they are funding the 6th Gen's budget?

I heard the bumper covers were sold as well... Maybe it's a fan puzzle? You need to meet at a designated location and put your pieces together...

What a strange reveal...

I don't think it's so bad - more of an evolution of the 5th gen than a revolutionary design. I don't see the issue with airflow either as quite a bit of the Mustang's bigger grill opening is blocked off. The rear tail lights look pretty lame in the most recent renders but who knows what the final version will look like. I've got no hate against the Camaro. The better it is, the more competition Mustang will have. And competition is always good for consumers.

Agreed. If it's good, Mustang has to be better. Roll on the '17/'18MY S550 refresh :headbang:

(although S550's competition is now as much BMW/Audi as it is Camaro/Challenger)
