I agree, and I don't know your experience on the track, but more than likely the extra weight won't effect you too much to the point it will hinder you on the track. I can't imagine it adding anymore than 25lbs. That's just a guess though, it could be more. Either way, I just don't want the extra crap in the trunk and wouldn't want to spend the money. I like cargo capacity lol :D

Wait, whaaa? I didn't even know it takes extra trunk space. Damnit, I think I need to get rid of this thing... Hopefully if I can't change the order easily, something at least pops onto a dealer lot around me that's close to what I'm looking for.

It's not a lot of trunk space, the sub fits nicely in the wheel well cubby. It has been touted and very well advertised that you can still fit a coupe of golf club bags in the back. I'll find you the picture.

with subwoofer 401a

If you're not scheduled yet, you can easily make the change and very likely it won't affect anything. I added the 50th appearance package a few weeks ago and it updated on the site and didn't change the date that was set.

But of course, if your build date is next week, it could cause an issue.

Just have your dealer attempt the change and see what happens. If it's too late to change, it may not let him remove it instead of change the scheduled date. My dealer said "well, lets see if it takes it" when I asked to make the change. So, I'm guessing it's possible the system would just refuse to allow the change instead of removing you from scheduling if you try to make the change.

I don't know any facts here but it looked to me like the Shaker Pro system is mounted in the 2014 trunk in a way that makes it easily removable when required.

If your order isn't pulled in yet I.e. No VIN yet, then yes you can easily modify your order..It should not cause any delay if you are only adding or deleting a feature/package.

imho 401A to me and only me is a pointless and gimmicky option. Do you really really need blind spot assist? Adaptive cruise control? Yes shaker pro 12 is good but if you are getting the premium GT you still get premium sound with 9 speakers...you'll be plenty happy without 401A trust me :)

Thanks for the info, guys. And Ali, I agree, which is why I want to drop the package. :D Although 401A does not come with adaptive CC. That's a separate package entirely.

I think memory seating would be slightly useful, though I barely used them on my Lexus. Power seats are good enough. And I think cross-traffic alert and BIS would also be good to have at times -- I'm not always a perfect driver, so a little help is nice... And I DO like music while cruising, but I don't blast it at full volume. As long as the 9-speaker system has decent power, bass, and good fidelity I would be happy. HD radio seems like it might be useful. Never had it before, so not sure how well it works.

So in other words, I like all the stuff in the 401A, but not enough for the space, weight, and price compromises. I'll give my dealer a call and see if they'll help me out. Last time I talked to my sales guy, he seemed to think it wouldn't be easy to change the order. I asked him before I even placed the order if I had any window of opportunity to change my mind on anything, and he was implying that there was none, so I might have to be persuasive to get him to try to change this order for me.

I saw it in person and fords advertising looked to be accurate, the setup would be put the bags in bottom to the right and the club heads would rest in the cubby on the left, opposite the speaker. In person it barely ate up any really useful trunk space. continuing the golf club analysis even without the sub you cant lay clubs perpendicular anyway the car isnt wide enough. so basically the only space you lose for the sub is about enough for a loaf of bread or two... nothing that couldn't go in a rear seat footwell if you managed to pack the car 100% full. oh and seats fold down.... all in all if you are concerned about 401A because of trunk space then don't worry... if the money/don't feel you need the features bothers you that's a different story

Np :) and one friendly advice: If you are talking to the sales guy, most of them don't know what they are talking about (not all, most of them will b.s.). Best thing to do is, call the dealership and tell them to transfer the call to the Inventory Manager! Talk to him and change your order and have him email you the confirmation while on the phone, he will know his stuff. The sales guy can't do much, he will go back and forth to his inventory manager.

I asked for a simple order number from my sales guy to track it on cotus and its been a week and he is still trying..LOL?? But I called the inventory manager straight up and got it Right away :)

Hah, yeah, I actually just talked to the sales guy. He wasn't sure, but he said he'd talk to the inventory manager and see. I got a call five minutes later saying it was no problem, haha.

I'm lucky, my contact at the dealer IS the inventory manager/internet sales manager. He's been great to work with.

GAH! Son of a *)$!#... I just checked on cotus, and they updated my order alright... but now the order date went from the original date of 8/8/14 to 9/4/14. :(

... I guess since going from 401A to 400A was an actual package change rather than a simple add or delete, it required a new date? The order number stayed the same, but the date moved up.

Damnit... I hope I still have some hope of getting the car by the end of November or at LEAST by the end of the year. Had I known it would delay my order by a month, I might have just kept 401A. Sales guy told me on the phone that it shouldn't affect my delivery date. These guys really never have any idea what they're talking about, do they?
