No wheelspacers, just stock Brembo 19x9" wheels with 275/40/19 Conti DW summer tires and -1.7 degrees front camber with a 1" FRPP P-spring drop. I'm not into aesthetics stuff and don't hardly even wash the car, just like to listen to the badass exhaust and drive.

Sorry but living in Chicago I don't know if I'd consider middle Tennessee a "northern" climate. He'll I don't even know if I consider Chicago a northern climate. Maybe Wisconsin or Minnesota or the Dakotas.

I drive mine all year round, including the horrible winter we've had this year. Car still looks great and not a speck of rust anywhere on the body. Cars are meant to be driven. It's just a Ford after all, not a Ferrari.

I live in the Chicago area too and often drove my Mustang year round but being a convertible owner it's just not the same with the top up. I want to order this year but from what I've heard convertible production will follow the coupe so if the first coupes are hitting dealers' lots late fall then the convertibles won't show up until almost winter (around here). Seems to make sense to wait till early 2015 to pick one up.
That said I'll probably pull the trigger on one as soon as I see it. :shrug:

I've lived in the Chicago area my whole life and driven 3 different Mustangs in the winter months. So yes it can be done and I actually find it to be fun. But I understand those who don't want to take their horse out in the snow. Growing up my dad kept a Ford Festiva just for bad weather/winter months while his Mustang hibernated in the garage. I think my financial situation might finally allow me to comfortably own more than one car so I may go that route this time. Especially if I'm able to buy a GT 350.

Question..... if this is about fleet distribution then when can we expect production/orders to begin for regular retail buyers?

I'm just not sure this is any indication that regular orders would begin at that time. It could be before or after...... no?

Ford blew this one big time. Should have been on the lots in April...you know, Spring weather when people get that sports car itch? Not when winter is soon approaching and people will only get one or two months to enjoy before all the salt and winter mess. Labor Day is the official end of summer and prime muscle car weather.

Not to mention the lost marketing opportunities.

Granted, you can and many do love driving their Mustangs in the winter. Nothing wrong with it, but seems very odd from a sales standpoint. So is there a difference between fleet and retail production?

I dont see rental companies getting this before retail buyers, at least I hope not. Talk about devaluing a hot new car before it even gets off the ground.

If I were Ford I would let it get in the hands of enthusiasts first to take it to the next level in looks and performance like always, before turning it into a rental.

I think the term "Fleet" distribution might be misleading. I am thinking this publication is simply lists the information which refers to the schedule for ALL vehicles, whether retail or fleet.

At least that what makes sense to me

That doesn't look anything like a production line to me. Looks like a project or development area. Maybe pre-assembly to ensure parts go together right. On the line

You are aware that was impossible due to design changes, ordered by Ford management circa late 2011-2012? The final S550 design was barely frozen a miniscule 14-15 months ago, in early December 2012. If released in April 2014, it would've entered production right about now. Fourteen months is insufficient for a major reengineering and quite risky.

The S197 facelift released for MY2010, had a very lengthy 26-29 months between design-freeze in late 2006 and early 2009 start of production. That may have also been originally scheduled for MY2009, fall 2008 launch. The MY2013 refresh was already set in stone with by the end of 2010, due in April 2012.

The original S197 was finalized in July 2002, starting up production on September 7, 2004. That's 26 months, not including the design selection process in late 2001.

The S550 was most certainly planned for an April 2014 launch, to tie in for the 50th Anniversary. The original, more radical design proposal was chosen in December 2010 and would've been in finalized sheetmetal by mid-late 2011 for February/March 2014 SOP. A timetable of 26-30 months between 2011 and early 2014.

Cancelling it so late in the game as they did, now meant a delayed release. Pericak's team has done an amazing job of working with only 20+ months between design freeze (circa December 3, 2012) and scheduled SOP on August 11, 2014.
