I'm gonna wait till the 2016 mustang. 2015 might have bugs. Remember the new escape? Thing would randomly engulf in flames.
The S197's started MY05, the '06's had that passenger side leak into the floorboard.

The 5.0 came out in the 2011 model year and the misfire/crank o-ring issue hit in 2013.

New year = new bugs.

For those of you knowledgable then…

If Job #1 is on August 11th, how long after that before they start hitting lots? 3 weeks? 6 weeks?

I'm thinking of ordering in June or July. If I could get a first allocation would I be driving it in late September or early October then?

Thanks for anyone who has gone through this before. :)
It really depends on how long they hold the initial run for quality checks, and obviously, if there are issues that need to be fixed. Based on past history when the 2005 and 2010s came out, it was a period of 5-7 weeks before the first ones started trickling into dealerships.

Why not order in May?

Great question, I'm curious as to the answer as well. This timeline has been such a grievance of mine. It's so late in the year and the arrival of the car in October would almost make me want to wait until Spring. It's a tough decision to wait even longer but what's the point of having the car if it just sits in the garage waiting for better weather?
Yep. Sad decision, but I think I've come to a similar conclusion. Not going to order until at least March 2015. This really should have been a spring/summer release...

I think I'll wait for a little and see if it has problems. If not then I'll get it late 2015. That's kinda wired that the problem started occurring in 2013. Maybe it had a date when it was supposed to fail. You know at one time Cadillac made it so that at a certain time the engine would malfunction. Local mechanics could not fix it so you would have to take it to the Cadillac dealership. This way they made money.

Nice to see production of the 2014 GT will not end early in 2014. Still enough time to get a GT with SRA.

I'm not buying until my GT500 is paid off and the Mach 1's restoration is done, which will be a few years. Who knows, maybe they'll have the GT350 for sale by then.

For the noobs out there, like myself, what does all this mean?

Job last date? I guess Order Bank Opens means thats when preorders go in? Is scheduling production?

Job 1 (I was told) is the first run of production

Job last is end of model year production.

If they are taking orders on May 12th (I believe it said) then we should shave all the info on final colors, packages, specs and so on prior to the banks opening.

I will be at my dealer on May12th to order my 50th anniversary GT Convertible. Loaded to the top!

Job last - the last day of production of the 2014s
Order bank opens - dealers can submit an order (you will need to check with your dealer to make sure they have an allocation to actually fulfill an order)
Scheduling - the process of beginning to sequence the orders with allocations into a production schedule

buy september I would only get to drive it for a month before the sand hits the roads up here in the northeast. hmmmmm, that's screws with my time frame. maybe I'll have to wait until next spring.
My thoughts exactly. I really wanted a new Mustang, but want to drive it not putt it away for winter, so that will delay when I order as well.

This was really poor planning by Ford. The S550 development started so long ago, they really should have done everything they could to make sure it was in showrooms before Sept/Oct 2014.

The worst part is they missed a once in a lifetime opportunity for it to be available for purchase on its 50th birthday. How did they let such a great marketing opportunity go to waste when it falls exactly at the NY auto show. You can't buy that kind of marketing.

Of course on the flip side had Ford pushed their schedule up any further people would be griping on the internet on how Ford rushed production. Any and every little issue the car would have had would be blamed on that.

Yea probably true but it works both ways with that too. The delay and them pretty close to winter means they had better not have major issues on top of that. Fewer people will have a chance to discover issues before putting them away for the winter if they aren't getting into the cars until Oct.

I'm thinking of buying in the spring of 2015 now as well instead of fall 2014.
