I'll be ordering when the banks open. If it has problems I'll let Ford fix it. If not, I'll supercharge it. If I don't like it, I'll trade it in. Just a car, there will be tens of thousands eventually.

Yeah I consider this to be a major blunder on Ford's behalf...I'm planning on ditching my car this Spring and may just go with a 2013 or 2014 since I'd like to enjoy my car over summer. Just really ill-advised timing on Ford's part. It's either that or wait another year until Spring 2015 while giving the Ranger some new upgrades/toys for fun to tide me over.

...I really wanted to ditch my Cavalier for the 2015 by August at the latest, this kind of changes things a bit.

This follows almost the same date pattern as the S197 did back in 2004. It was not until much later in the S197's run that order banks opened in November/December of the previous years an new model-year cars were on dealer lots by spring. I think we've just become spoiled/used to it without taking into all the retooling/preparation that needs to be done by Ford to turn out a quality product. Sucks for those in northern climates, but that's the price car enthusiasts pay for choosing to live in those areas.

Bingo!

Not bingo! It's the price that is paid if you choose not to drive your car year round. :)

Only way I purchase this year, is if it's a SE 50 Year Anniversary Designated Model (GT350, Mach, or ___?)... We should all know at the April 17th surprise announcement by FORD-->IMO-->:gossip:!!

Sorry but living in Chicago I don't know if I'd consider middle Tennessee a "northern" climate. He'll I don't even know if I consider Chicago a northern climate. Maybe Wisconsin or Minnesota or the Dakotas.

I drive mine all year round, including the horrible winter we've had this year. Car still looks great and not a speck of rust anywhere on the body. Cars are meant to be driven. It's just a Ford after all, not a Ferrari.

This was really poor planning by Ford. The S550 development started so long ago, they really should have done everything they could to make sure it was in showrooms before Sept/Oct 2014.

The worst part is they missed a once in a lifetime opportunity for it to be available for purchase on its 50th birthday. How did they let such a great marketing opportunity go to waste when it falls exactly at the NY auto show. You can't buy that kind of marketing.
That is literally how long it takes to develop a completely new platform. I am as impatient as you are, but I would rather wait to see a better final product, than a product delivered early and full of shortcuts taken in development.

Middle Tennesse is definitely not. I was not suggesting that I lived in that sort of climate at all. I don't think I've ever driven a garage queen.

Hell yeah! The car might not be built for snow, but that doesn't mean the car is too special to drive when it's messy outside.

\/ Those are summer tires BTW.

Ironically the top photo was taken with my Nikon and the bottom with my iPhone, go figure! My hands were too cold and the snow/wind was hitting too hard to futz with the settings.

heh, says something for the camera quality then! I just like how there's more light, and less snow falling in the bottom picture (or at least there appears to be less snow falling!)
