Well if we're talking about direct competitors I don't have to mention Camaro & Challenger cause they're obviously worse.

How's about 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
3.8L V6, 348hp, 8 speed Automatic, Curb Weight A/T 3538-3631 lbs - 16/25 MPG

I just didn't see how the new stang could get BETTER mileage. It weighs more, has the same basic drivetrain (making even more power), has larger brakes, and has more aggressive wheel/tire setups. It's not a recipe for better mileage.

Is the Camaro worse? With auto It's rated same as 2015 Mustang with auto. I'm very confident that 2016 Camaro will at the very least match the Mustang rating. They will be within a mile or two though so it makes no difference to me either way.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the 2016 or 17 Mustang with a power and mpg increase though.

Same here.. Yet, we had people claiming 28 mpg Highway. I don't think Ford engineers are that ahead of the Corvette team to get mpg just about as great as a lighter and more aerodynamic car.

The numbers aren't bad at all, but I don't seem them improving unless an auto with more gears is added. That being said, is there rumor for anything new beyond the 6speed automatic in the future?

That's it? A future car that doesn't exist yet may have better mileage. And yes the '15 Camaro is 15/24

and what about the Real '15 V6 with 87 less hp, 2 more forward gears & weighs 100 lbs less having the exact same MPG as the 5.0? I suppose that belongs on the stupid list too

So my guess earlier in the thread was partly correct. :)

So you're proud of Ford for getting 1 extra mpg over an overweight Camaro with which is now an older engine? Lol.

2016 Camaro mpg will go up.. Wanna make a wager?

I really could not care less how it is rated because any number of factors goes into that, not the least of which could be a change in how accurate it actually is. I remember when a certain Cupertino company changed how they rated the battery life of some products people freaked out because they didn't "improve" in the new model. Then they realized their old devices had inflated estimates and real life use bore that fact out.

So yea, I'll wait for real world numbers. My bet is it did not in fact get worse.

That's pretty much the story in a nut shell. I wouldn't be surprised if the upgraded engine is actually more efficient, just wait until the real world tests.

GM and Ford announced a while back that they are co-developing 8 to 10 speed automatics and the Mustang is rumored to be getting the 10 speed in the future. When is the question.

Don't bother with this. Some people are convinced they know certain things about the next Camaro. They never learn... but that is a topic for another thread.

I'm tired of all the "MILEAGE GOT #WORSE" so I'm going to give a bit of clarification.

1) Fuel economy did not get worse. Previous numbers were misrepresented.

2) Previous chief engineer in charge of fuel economy is no longer with the company for misrepresentations. Very embarrassing to have to keep correcting the values (like CMax falling from 51 to 41).

So there. If anyone was wondering why all the numbers were lower than expected, it had a lot more to do with the company making sure the numbers were 100% attainable. Lower on sticker yes - but at least you won't be complaining that you never get what you paid for.
Mine says "window sticker". Maybe you should direct that at someone else. Lol.

Tempting because almost everyone thought the '15 mustang would go up and didn't, but I'm sure it will so I'll pass.. Anyway we don't no what the '17 Mustang MPG's will be anyway, Ford has no reason to rise the MPGs on the '15 cause it's already better that the competition, why would they blow their wad now?
