That's pretty disappointing. Heck, my 89 LX 5.0 with the OLD 5.0 was rated at 16/24. That's 26 years of progress? I was hoping for 18/27 or thereabouts. No wonder they have been sitting on these numbers. Really not sure what would make the AT so low versus 2014. The PP's 3.73 gears don't apply, and I doubt they are anticipating a 33% take rate on 3.55 gears.

On the other hand, this 16/25 is probably about the same as the 18/26 of my current car, which was rated under the old system in 2007. If that means I can expect to continue to get 22-23 on my mostly-secondary rural road commute, I won't really complain much.
16/25 is REALLY disappointing for the Auto. The 2014 Auto got 18/25. How did the auto lose 2 MPG under the same testing standards as the 2014.

I understand this car has 3.55s on it but I don't think that is factored in. Maybe if they think the majority of GTs will have the 3.73s or 3.55s then this MIGHT be correct. If this is for the 3.15s, ugggghhh.

This is exactly why Ford has been stalling. This information is bad news. I understand being cautious but I doubt we'll hear different from Ford.

You can figure that out here.

Sorry man, unfortunately nothing has changed in the past few years.
Oh okay I just was watching a Fifth Gear episode and they were talking about Ford giving more generous EPA numbers and that they had to change the way they did testing and noticed they were 10-20% to high. Wish I could find the episode

oh ok i see what your saying now. EPA guidelines haven't changed but it is possible ford is making it harder for them selves by introducing their own policy on top of epa guidelines

Some people are delusional. "EPA standards are getting tighter". Nothing has changed. Everyone else is improving their EPA numbers, but the Mustang GT apparently. I'm sure Ford has changes coming to the Coyote for 2016/2017 MY.

Personally, I think these numbers are decent. Have no idea why so many expected this car to do as well as the Vette when it comes to mpg.

Umm... I expected it to at least improve some. By improve, I mean stay the same or better; because even if it stayed the same with the slight increase in weight and power, it would have still been an improvement in efficiency.

It's not being delusional. It's common sense. They were hit hard so internally Ford may be testing all cars with a more strict test or purposely giving the worst case scenario mileage to prevent further problems.

I'm not buying my 5.0 for mileage so I don't see why getting worked up over unconfirmed info is worth it. We all saw where panicking over 300lbs weight gain got us.

Window stickers are a little different than some companies ramblings. Especially when they previously had nothing on them. Apples and oranges i'm afraid.

All in all we just have to wait and see. I'm not going to let it kill my Buzz. [emoji41]

What's common sense? They were hit hard because they were LYING. Just like Hyundai. I bet they're not doing anything more strict than EPA standards, it really wouldn't make any sense. You follow set standards/guidelines so you can compete with other manufacturers, unless you lie so people think the CMAX, Fusion, or whatever else gets better MPG than Prius or Accord hybrid.

EPA tests aren't bullet proof Chef. Ford has to follow the same guidelines as every other manufacturer when submitting a test vehicle. Same goes for actual testing of the vehicle. If they got better numbers initially during EPA testing that weren't realistic then they have the option to lower them, themselves. Maybe Ford knew the testing results were inflated, maybe they didn't. However it doesn't mean they forged the test results. Just sayin.
