Even here in Central Florida it gets cold enough that the summer tires are junk for traction until they get warmed up depending on the pavement temps. hated them on my Shelby when it was below 50 degrees outside

OK I just read the first page. My thoughts

Speed under 40MPH
Colder then 60 degrees outside
Summer only tires suck when under 60 and the warning sticker needs changed ASAP.

I'm going to upload my crash picks, though not as bad kinda,

I lived in Baton Rouge LA from Jan 2012- Apr 2012 for business. I have to say when it rains, it rains, and it rains hard and fast. Most times it came out of no where and stopped just as fast. its an old town and drainage is not that great throughout most of the city. you also have to understand that Baton Rouge is a city built on swamp land. its basically at or below sea level.... so it is prone to flash floods as well. when I was there I was there I drove my '03 4x4 Supercrew and left my Stang home. it was a great idea. every time it rained there were flooded streets and accidents. I clearly understand what may have happened and I feel for you man. keep us posted on repairs and costs... so that we may be prepared should it happen to us.

Why is it that whenever air bags pop in a crash people say oh its totalled? Why can't air bags just be replaced easily?

It definitely rains a ton down here and drainage in BR can definitely be pretty awful. Not to be too nitpicky but Baton Rouge is about 50-60 feet above sea level (as opposed to 8 feet below in New Orleans)and was not built on swamp land but was built on natural bluffs along the Mississippi River which actually helps prevent flooding. Of course there are areas outside of Baton Rouge proper that are on swamplands and are much lower lying (maybe around 10 feet above sea level).

no way its totaled. That's a 40K car. Its more like the summer tire issue. I think these Pirellis will be recalled eventually due to safety issues.

First: OP, glad you are safe and keeping your chin up.

It was that way years ago, but not today. Air bag prices have come way down, but they do more damage to the seats and roof liners. Without the car on a lift, his damage estimate will be between 12 and 15K, not including anything underneath.(Frame or Drive Train)

Looked like my airbags just need replaced and the headliner goes back into place.

I'll have to see what they do about front seats.

Hate to see a new s550 end up like this. Like others have said, glad you are ok. The car can be replaced.

I doubt its a pirelli issue because i usually only use pirellis on my cars and when i got my ecoboost PP it had the summer tires and it snow 2x in that time and the car was still managable. Dont get me wrong they were no where near all season or winter tires but they were usualable until i got my new set of tires. This model pirellis arent new tires they have been around a while
