Hey,

So I've got a 2015 Ecoboost Premium with factory 20 inch wheels. I have a little over 90k on my car and my front right side strut/top mount is starting to clunk around. My mechanic said that the rear shocks are still good and just to replace the front struts and mounting hardware/reuse my stock springs. Thoughts on just doing the front struts only and leaving the rear alone?

I don't want to lower my ride height or stiffen things up much, it's a daily driver and I have future plans to grab a GT...that's where my "fun money" will eventually go in the next so many years as I've abandoned the idea of taking the Ecoboost beyond stock. So honestly, for me, would you just go with OEM Ford/Motorcraft replacements and reuse the stock springs as suggested, especially considering that I don't want to mess with my ride height or add performance goals? And same thing...just the fronts and say to heck with the rears at this time since they're still good?

Please give suggestions and thoughts on all this, but unless the "reuse the stock springs" suggestion is something that you guys nix the heck out of...the other thought is maybe SR Performance parts from American Muscle, but again, their springs drop an inch...so back to reusing the stockers with those struts and potentially shocks too and would that work lol???

Anybody out there aside from Ford/Motorcraft actually make springs front/rear that keep a stock ride height lol? Seems like everything includes a drop, and in NCWV...oh that's a bad idea with these roads lol.

Thanks guys.

At 90k bets are that all the shocks are tired and well overdue for a replacement/refresh. I wouldn’t touch the springs. Imho.

Just replace the struts and drive it until you are ready for the GT.. I would not spend more money on it than you have to, if you are planning to dump it anyways.

Just went with the front shocks/mounts and wow what a difference...might end up doing the rears in the spring when I do brakes/rotors. Just depends on if I want to keep it or not after getting to screw around with an S650 in person; might end up keeping my Ecoboost a while longer TBH as I think I'm not going to really be all too impressed. Really should have grabbed a GT about a decade ago, but couldn't afford it lol. I'm big on the 15-17s in particular.

I was pretty close to getting a GT as a replacement for my totaled V6, but after the test drives I did it just wasn't worth the big premium to me. It still felt pretty similar overall and if I'm spending the big money, I'm wanting something much different like the C8 I keep thinking about...just that the market on those is still bad.
