It was the last run of the day so I was pushing pretty hard, also, on the previous run I forgot to turn the cooler on right away. The temp came down immediately on the cool down lap. Still a long ways away from limp mode. Some people see 240's just street driving without the coolers.
I'm one of my those people.

I'm guessing the reason ford suggested the Weldon Pump "9200-a" because it has a thermostatic switch?

IMHO, a thermostatic switch is preferred :thumbsup:

The only way you'd pay $4,800 is if you went to your local dealership and ordered it there. If you go through a retailer like BuyFordRacing or Autonation Ford White Bear Lake (a 6G site sponsor) you'll pay less.
I called Autonation when the transmission was initially released. They are local to me. They said they would probably price the transmission around $4,000. I really hope something has changed and the price will be closer to the $2,700. $4,000 is a lot to pay for something with no warranty.

Yeah I just don't understand how the hot coolant flows to the switch if it's not reading the inside of the trans.
Is the switch located on one of the line inlets?

Then call Mike at Buyfordracing.

I think it can be located anywhere, but nearest the outlet side of the trans is ideal I would think. Putting this switch in and depending on that means it will turn on at 196 degrees and stay on until 163. That's going to run non-stop. With my poor man manual switch I turn it on immediately upon hitting the track and off when I'm done with the session. Also, I like to turn it on while I'm on the highway at 175-180

Re. Your question Schultz, I am hoping there might be a way to access the trans temp info all our GT350s have. I would think a thermo switch would be as close to the outflow from the transmission as possible...

Seeing the details are non-existent from FP now, I'm gonna go back through the cooler build threads to do my own fix. I am by no means an expert on this but I am hoping for a system that will:
1) utilize my existing transmission;
2) retain fill and drain functionality for the respective ports;
3) have a thermostatically controlled (using existing temp data) geared-driven pump (the quieter the better);
4) be as simple as possible (hopefully avoid excessive lines) with a goal to use no more than three.

I don't know what is or is not possible with these goals. Any guidance from this community is greatly appreciated.

It'll be interesting to see what details are pending from FP regarding the kit.

As for a complete tranny swap, I'd rather not keep on giving Ford $$ for my car to operate as advertised.

I'm pretty sure that they had two at that price and those have been sold.
I don't think you understand how this works.

Ford Performance Parts had the only two available in stock. Mike at Buyfordracing was the selling dealer in both cases (which was actually three but the third one was held up initially and then allowed to be sold to the respective customer). Any FPP dealer could have called in to lay claim to what was actually in stock at the FPP warehouse. Mike was the only one.

FPP has since instituted a policy whereby a VIN is required as a form of authentication to show that the purchaser owns a Tech Pack GT350. Any FPP dealer can sell one, and once the paperwork is approved the unit gets drop shipped from the FPP warehouse.

So the FPP dealers that are quoting numbers that keep getting posted here have yet to even sell one and don't have them stocked wherever they reside.

Seeing the details are non-existent from FP now, I'm gonna go back through the cooler build threads to do my own fix. I am by no means an expert on this but I am hoping for a system that will:
1) utilize my existing transmission; definitely doable
2) retain fill and drain functionality for the respective ports;hoses can easily be removed to utilize drain/fill locations
3) have a thermostatically controlled (using existing temp data) geared-driven pump (the quieter the better);using existing trans temp data would take some sort of programming knowledge and the use of relays. I see this being very involved if even possible. The thermostatic switch is probably the best bet. I don't think any of these external pumps are "quiet," but the quieter ones are $450+. That is significantly more $$ than others (Mocal/Tilton) for around $200.
4) be as simple as possible (hopefully avoid excessive lines) with a goal to use no more than three.trans to cooler, cooler to pump, pump to trans, yep, 3

I don't know what is or is not possible with these goals. Any guidance from this community is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info Chris :thumbsup:
Sure thing. I have my coolers on a manual switch. Since my fluid change to BG SynchoShift my trans temps rarely get above 180 without the cooler on even when driving for an hour+. The thermostatic switch that comes with the Weldon 9200 doesn't even click on until 196.

I have all the info of my install if you have any questions. Good luck!
