That's great news! Congrats. You said earlier that your dealer ordered these parts because your transmission is no longer being made? Is that to assume that they are just silently phasing out the non pump transmissions? I was also thinking about this way down the line as to how long ford was going to make tech transmissions since we are so few spread out across the 16 and 17 years ie. Many years from now when wear and tear finally break our trans.
Said they couldn't get parts for my old trans so they just ordered a new one. Plus my other trans was trashed anyway. It was full of brass and found no brass left on one of the synchros

You guys have it easy. It's tit for tat in my household.
I can't deny it, I have it pretty damn good. :D

But, I also make sure I do my part to keep it that way.

Dan is probably on the way to the dealer now. I would be. The wife will get over it :D

Edited to add: Does Canada have a similar deal to the US where if you trade in a car towards a new one you get a tax break?
Nope. We get ass blasted and lose the luxury tax we had to pay.

I looked at trading mine across and it was going cost me $20k.

Montreal is getting an amazing deal. I need to talk with him. I would do the $7500 in a heartbeat.

$2700 shipped for the ford racing variant really isnt bad at all, you can easily sell the tech pack tranny for 2k+ to a GT owner with a blown MT82. I would go that route over an electric pump

Montreal Ponies- I would say you have a very good deal trading in a used base car for a new TP car for $7500. You get magenride and the full cooler setup all under warranty, not bad!
Actually the real #'s are as follow :

Purchasing price of my base 350 was : $66988 cad
Purchasing price of '16 TP is : $70K cad
I'm being offered for my base car : $60K cad

Total loss with trade in is : $16,988 cad :eyebulge:

Just playing devil's advocate here......

What about a private sale? I looked into selling my track pack a little while ago trying to work and angle on a GT500 allocation and found that 55-60K USD could be had.

Is the Canadian market as good?

To answer your question Tom, yes we do , well in this province anyways. When trading a car in at a dealership, you will get taxed only on the difference the new car will cost you.

So in my case i'd be taxed on $10K only.

With that kind of loss on a trade, seems cheaper to go with the tranny swap.

First i'd have to find out how much a base GT350 would realistically sell for in the US.

Let's say : $50K USD
Equals to : $65K cad ( 30% exchange rate )

I would be making a $5K profit and losing my tax break VS getting $60K back on my trade in and keeping my tax break with dealing with the dealership.

I get screwed both ways, and it'd actually be more beneficial financially getting the deal through with the dealership.

When you go to sell the car and you have to explain to someone, "yes, it is a tech pack, yes I know they have limp mode issues. No, this car doesn't, because I swapped the transmission. No, there's no warranty on it." then the trade in will be a better deal...

If I was going to sell my car during the warranty period I wouldn't be worried about the heat problem.

I want to fix this for me, not for someone else. Besides, any money I spend trying to fix this problem won't translate to a sale anyways.
