Logic would say that the most track capable Mustang ever would be more capable than a Mustang GT.

The R and track models are "all day track cars". I don't need an all day track car. My sessions have only been 25 minutes at a time and in relatively cool temperatures.

And my car hit limp mode on the way home from work earlier this week. Did I need to buy the track model in order to safely make it home from work?

:tsk:
That, sir, is in my opinion a defect and possible lemon law issue. Document it with your dealer and insist that it be repaired. Non track limp mode is unacceptable. There is a thread in the sticky section that deals with fordscan tweaks. You can use this to record a limp mode event during normal use as described by Ford.

Lemon law varies state to state. Seriously, look into it.

Not really if you believe that id suspect you'd have a lot of made for tv products in your house. If you limp on the street bring it in. If you limp on the track you have no legal case

Tonight I checked for an available connection for the differential temperature sensor on the existing wire harness while I was changing my oil. Sorry to report there is nothing I could find that would accomodate a sensor plugin. Need to find some wiring diagrams for the GT350 and start there. I'll just stick with my Glowshift differential temperature gauge that I installed.
I still have to say that this car is the worst out of any car I have owned for changing oil and keeping that whole process neat. Everything wants to come out sideways.
Thanks for letting us know Dave. If there, it would've been a no brainer to hook up a sensor....

Is it still possible to run the wiring w/ sensor to the factory plug in and activating the gauge in the dash? instead of adding entire gauge?

That is insane.

I was on the verge of swapping my mint GT/PP for a '16 Tech for $1K less than sticker, but just couldn't do it because it was the wrong color.

Not to mention these posts on hitting limp mode on the road.

I can flog the snot out of my GT on the hottest day with no issue. As it should be. I just KNOW if I had pulled the trigger on that Tech it would be causing me grief.....

That is what we are looking for, there is nothing visible in the back end wiring, the Tech cars must have a different wire loom. I will be looking for wiring diagrams that can help, there has to be a place we can tap into to connect a thermocouple than turn on the dash gauge.

I was asking about if the wiring for that gauge is completely missing all the way to the rear, can we just run our own wire and plug it in or is something else missing that will prevent the car reading the gauge?

Since Ford had a R and a track model I don't think your logic holds water. Maybe of the track didn't exist..
First off let me say , I love my tech car. I will most likely never track it, if I do it will be limited. So I probably won't have an issue. That being said when I bought my car I had done a little research, talked to some dealers, and so on. I had never seen this forum yet, I knew of it but I'm not a really big forum person. I've been burned out on them by the attitudes of all of the assholes on them. I was told by numerous dealers that the tech cars were an upgrade to the track cars because of their interior options. The sync 3, the heated and cooled seats, ect..... Never once did anyone mention that the car lacked any capabilities of the track pack. It was more described to me that the track cars and especially the R were a somewhat stripped down version for the serious racer.....which as stated I am not. It wasn't until I joined this forum and ran across some of these threads that I had any idea my car was missing these components. So I guess this is where people get the logic that they feel they have been slighted or cheated. For me when I purchased my car I was under the impression I was buying a fully capable car but with a few extra creature comforts. I'm not sure if anyone else is in the same boat but I would imagine there are more than a few.

It's a personal decision on what to buy. You can have a lot of fun with a tech pack car without hitting limp mode, but the regular GT is a lot of fun as well, and the car is better sorted. The GT350 is more raw - basically a hot-rodded GT. If you want to drive my GT350 to help you make the decision on whether to potentially buy a GT350 in the future, don't hesitate to PM me.

Keep your GT it is a better car than the tech GT350. Ford made a big mistake offering the tech car to the public. Sooner or later they will pay for there mistake when one of the tech cars goes into limp mode on the street or track and causes a serious accident. Stay away from the tech GT350.

I can't believe we're still out here discussing and trying to find solutions to our base/tech cars when in fact it should be up to Ford to step up to the plate and help their customers that paid the big bucks for the most track capable Mustang ever.

We are given the same run around every month and still nothing after all this time. This is so frustrating to say the least. :frusty:

My trans hit 260 degrees yesterday on a perfectly fine 80 degree sunny day.
Drove about 25 miles on and off highways with some spirited driving.

Don't know if this has been mentioned or if it might help. The 13 boss LS has a scoop under the trans that cools the trans. These scoops can be purchased from Ford performance. I'm sure this won't be a simple bolt on. But with a few mods maybe it might fit. Has anyone tried this? If it keeps the temp from rising above limp mode it might work for limited track time. Since I now own a boss I've been reading about these scoops for keeping the trans temp from overheating. It's worth a try or maybe ford has more info on this scoop. Just my two cents and I was involved with this issue also. Ford needs to help current owners for sure. This one on eBay.....http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-RACING...m564350c9a4:m:mjQs4Vhp6Yl1CzkDtGCBu3w&vxp=mtr

We first need to get together , get everyone's personnal info, make a print out of all the discussons that took place here and send them to Ford corporate, if that makes any sense.
