I like to disassemble things.
That's some great tech Leonard, thanks for that.

I was told that quite a few at Ford Performance were on vacation last week when I was looking for any kind of response from them regarding the Tech Pack "saga." Surprisingly enough, early this morning I had a more detailed answer that came right from the top.

First, the disclaimer...

...the caveat is that things are in development and not complete and could still be cancelled.

The heart of the matter...

We are developing a kit for the diff that uses the production GT350 cooler and lines, but adding a simple wire harness to control it. It will have a temp controlled switch to turn it on. The fluid is pretty thick when cold, and it will greatly reduce the pump life if operated with cold fluid.

For the trans – we have 2 things we are working on. One is just to release the production trans with the integral pump and all of the production cooler hardware. This can be done reasonable quickly as it’s just paperwork to process. The second option is the development of a kit of parts using production modified hardware along with the addition of the electric pump (same one used on the diff cooler, but with some modifications to work with the trans).

So these are in process, but are still some months from being available for sale.

Hope this helps those that have been patiently waiting for something from Ford.

I believe I posted this up on another thread elsewhere on these forums, but since this thread is getting some traction ....here goes. Check it out. You'll see that it is a complete kit for a DIY installation. And it is packaged as a solution for Porshe. Buying 2 of these would suffice for the Transmission and the differential.

The limp mode on the highway and traffic I think is a law suit. Limp on the track is a tougher issue since they sold a "track" model. Might make sense to get people who have the issue documented some where, I think the best angle will be that on the street the car doesn't perform as advertised

Most of you guys seem to be long time Ford people have they retrofitted a car before?
Didn't Ford have an issue with the horsepower on the 1999 Cobra's? I thought they were running low and issued a replacement intake due to the car not making the advertised power?

Yep, they were rated at 320hp, but most of them dynoed at around 290hp or so and others even lower numbers.

Looks like a good option for the transmission, but that kit won't work for the differential. The radiator needs to be a "special", I believe the size is 4" x 20" x 1.5" thick to fit in the rear and make use of the air scoops in the rear belly pan for proper cooling. Its is pretty tight back there for the diff cooler radiator, plenty of room to mount a pump though.
But you can also buy all those components online for about 1/2 the cost, if you know where to look.

Im reading the owners manual and it states

"Operating at High Speeds and on Track
Days
Your vehicle is capable of sustained high
speeds and track day driving if equipped
with powertrain coolers (Track, R model)."

I don't know if this was added after the overheating was discovered out was always there

I just read on another forum that the cooler kits are done and owners should expect a letter within the month. The letter will explain the options and the coolers should be available about the time we get the letter. Fingers crossed.

If true that is awesome news. So i'm guessing Base and tech owners will be getting the letter.
It would also be great if Ford would ship my owners supplement and letter at the same time. ;)

Is the other site xyz performance cuz i couldn't find it there.

Anyways, i'll believe it when i get the letter.

I don't think I can link to other forums. Actually, I don't really know how to link anyway. Try fordshelby350forum.

I read it, hopefully the poster is credible. It's the usual heard from somebody etc. But, the poster did say he heard the same story from three different people all from different companies. So hopefully it is true and it turns out to be good news so us tech/base GT350 owners can move on with our lives. ;)

I bought my car used with 1600 miles. Will ford know to contact me, instead of the original owner?

NO Ford will probably not contact you only the original Owners. ... I still get recalls from Ford on a Ford GT that I sold 3 years ago. I also talked with FP and they said Ford will have the cooling issue options out within a month . So let them know about your situation to be on the safe side.

Here's what the poster wrote:

Good morning all, I have received information from 3 reliable sources that a kit has been developed and we the owners will get a letter within the month telling us about it, I am also told it will be available for purchase and installation about the same time we get the letter. I could not get any more details other than what Ford Customer Service, Shelby, and local service manager told me, and this is after months of being told that it was being evaluated but nothing beyond that. This latest info is very different than what we all heard before. So watch your mail! This is also very different then being told might need to change out the tranny.
