Now we need to find the appropriate "switchback" LEDs that can work as normal taillights, breaks and turn signals. And of course a driver for the sequential function. Then we can do the installation on our own. Shouldn't be that difficult, same technique as the fronts.

Anyone has an idea if this kind of LEDs are available somewhere?

Sadly no LED boards available for the rear lights. Of course you can open your lights and try to make your own boards.

If we could know the specs of DD's drivers, we could buy the specific LED chips and create our own boards using their driver as they already have all the functions for that.

First of all this is just an idea and I don't know if this is possible (actually if someone is willing to do it).

Maybe the best way to know what kind of LEDs are used and how they are installed inside the taillight would be if someone who has his taillights already converted to sequential could reopen one of them, examine it thoroughly and share pictures.

I am not suggesting it, because I know that this involves a lot of work and probably no one would be willing to disassemble his taillight, but this would be the best way to start doing it on our own :ninja:

Yeah this is a good idea but most probably without volounteers (me included) :ninja:

However, even with pictures and info of the inside, you will miss the most important part that is the electronics hardware\software that controls all the functionality.

Just note, there are working 2 versions already ... 1 unnamed and 1 from the UK. I would prefer to see the inside of the UK version.

Otherwise, what if we wait a second or two, and use the drivers of the 2018 refresh? Just a thought...

From my point of view, don't expect to see sequential rear light on the 2018 export model. I think we'll see the exact same thing as we have on the 2015+ model, one single turn light on the rear.

For the rest, yes, 2 models available and they should work the same way from one to the other

Ford can build all they want, there are international regulations keeping them from doing this AFAIK... I don't expect this to change... also remember that the US cars have "only" red lights which is used for the turn signals while the rest of us need yellow/amber/orange turn signals... :-/

No way the 2018 export taillights will be sequential. They'll be just like the current ones, including the stupid white lenses. That's the one thing they could have easily changed but unfortunately they didn't.

It's a great idea but IMO no one will reopen his light to have a look inside lol

But here's the best picture I've found about a damaged tail light, you clearly see inside the light. With this price, you could easily buy it and try something on it. Or try to ask for more pics

Thanks for that!

Another thought: If someone more experienced than the rest of us is willing to dig into it, I would suggest that we all send him an amount by PayPal, so that he buys this damaged item, as well as any other parts necessary for the info we need in order to build a sequential taillight. Then he will do his research, buy all the parts he needs ... et voila, we will end up with our own taillight! We can even commercialize it if we want!

Would you be willing to do that? Personally I am in! :headbang:
