Hello All,

New to the forums but I've been a mustang owner for 15 years. I check the forums often but I've never really felt the need to post. Anyways, I was recently at a Ford dealership with my wife purchasing an SUV and we checked out a 2018 GT PP1 with magnetic ride, active exhaust, and 10 speed auto. I drive a 2011 GT500 now but my wife gave me the go ahead to trade in if I wanted. The new features are pretty tempting and i'm sort of tired of driving a manual. Should I do it?

Yes. Newer faster better. If no mods on the 11, 18 will be faster than the 11. Not by much but on paper faster. A few mods on the 18 and for sure faster. I enjoy driving the 18 more than my old 17 GT350. Rowing the gears is fun but the A10 is awesome.

I just did the same (similiar) mental gymnastics. Love the gt500, but for street drive ability and more hp room actually (mod wise) the 18 GT PP auto no brainer. Jmo.

Awesome. Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll most likely give them a call this week. That being said, if any of you others are in the fence, the $2,500 incentive on mustangs ends July 2nd. So buy now.

If it's a weekend cruiser I'd keep the GT500 (i have an '11 GT500 as well). I'm actually working on adding an '18 GT as a DD. I'm gonna go with a manual though, as I think I'd get bored with the automatic fairly quickly.

The S550 is such a better car in almost every way. Given that it's so quick out of the box, I'd do it.

The 10 speed in Sport Mode is fun to drive. I drove around the first couple hundred miles in D not realizing the difference. Its a whole new car to drive in Sport Mode. This is the first automatic sports car Ive owned in over 10 years. No regrets here, you will like it.

So glad you started this topic! I’m on the fence as well, but I was looking for a weekend cruiser and I’ve been hooked on the 13-14 GT500 for years. Saying that, the 18 GT performance has me second guessing what I really want. Decisions...

it really is a tough choice. I found myself staring at my gt500 in the garage and wondering what i'd be like to see something else there haha.

Interesting. I do trust the opinions here. But when I first saw the thread title, I felt for sure it would go the other way.

Progress!

If you want a true Mustang keep what you have,if you want an ugly Euro box that look like everything else on the road, then trade your very nice Shelby Mustang in and get raped by a Ford dealer, sorry I am NOT a fan of any S550 models.:frusty::doh::headbonk:
