Also when you go to 20's, if you go with 305/35 or 315/35 on the rear you also hurt the gear ratio. For example It will cut your 3.31 gear to ballpark of 3.18-3.20 ratio, that you will feel in performance. Now if you have a PP/3.73 car then you might like less gear.

Actually, a 30 series tire in a 305 or 315 is a much better choice with more tire brands and models to choose from.
30 series would keep you close to stock tire height but the 305/35 & 315/35 seems to be the most popular with the guys on m6g.

My car came with the factory Foundry 20" wheels and they weighed 35.7 lbs. My new SVE Series 3 20x10" chrome wheels weight 28 lbs. Here is the wheel info from LMR's site:
Wheel Specs

Size: 20x10
Offset: +42mm
Backspacing: 7.15
Lip Size: 2.25"
Weight: 28lbs
Lug Pattern: 5x114.3

Goofy thing is the 20x8.5 on the fronts are 1 lb. heavier even though they are 1.5" narrower. Still saved nearly 29 lbs.

problem is, on a 20" wheel...you have so little tire....if you don't have a beefy wheel, you get bent rims all the time.

Whatever size you choose, you need to stay close to 27.0" overall diameter

without of course, tires are 28-31 lbs each....

35.7 is god awful heavy.....and I have these beasts on my car! ugh.
One can but hope those were the true weights?:D

I have the 20" foundry wheels as well. They do look nice besides being heavy slugs.

Yep, the factory 20" wheels are very heavy, which probably helps contribute to all the bubbled tires and bent or broken wheels people have been getting with them on potholes and such. All that extra mass doesn't react quickly.

Well factory wheels need to be cheap and fast to make but also strong enough for daily use that's why they are heavy.

They are gorgeous. I almost ordered them but just didn't feel right ordering tires that close to Band-aids. Sidewalls do serve a purpose. If people are having pothole issues with them, I feel a little vindicated. I am happy I have my 18s, as they will always make great wheel for winter tires. Maybe I will get a set of wider 19s for summer use at some point, but I don't think I will be getting 20s.

Its crazy to me some of the new audis coming with 22s stock! 19 is indeed the sweet spot for size and sidewall support. Not sure why tire brands don't make more tires in 19inch.

The best combination of wheels and tires I have seen as far as weight goes without breaking the bank is TSW Interlagos (lightest TSW wheel), Bathurst or Nurburgring combined with Continental Extremecontact DW. Those three wheels are all within a half pound of each other throughout the various sizes and the DWs are all under 30 pounds.

I'm hoping to go with a 19x9 Bathursts and DW 255/40 in a square setup. It will shave close to 9 pounds per corner compared to my stock 18s with P Zero Neros. The Bathursts are 21.45 pounds (IIRC) compared to the 25 pound stockers and the DWs in 255/40 are 24 pounds versus the 30 pounds of the Pirellis.

It's not the most aggressive setup but it gives me more grip than what I have, lowers weight significantly, allows me plenty of space for lowering the car later on if I decide to and its a wheel and tire size that is the same as the optional 19" wheels you can buy with the car so I'm hoping that it won't mess up the dynamics of the car since Ford probably designed everything around the wheels and tire sizes it offered. Plus, I like to be able to rotate my tires.
