After I heard the 5.0 'in the metal', I almost changed my order there and then. Sounds amazing. For me personnaly, I know the novelty of the sound would wear off but I'd become less and less happy with the tax and insurance bills.

Most people are going for the 5.0 now, but this will probably change when 'normal' people start buying them. Although I'm secretely hoping badge snobbery will keep people away and the cars don't become a common site.

As a Brit living in the US, I got the V8 because it's something I would never feel able to do back home due to the price of petrol, insurance, etc.

In fact, I could never see myself buying +any+ new car in the UK given the higher prices, higher income tax, lower salaries, etc.

You guys must be rich!

I am pretty normal!
Well at least a think I am. Mind you, the way my neighbour looked at me the other day when I told him I am buying a 5.0l V8 Mustang, I felt far from it.

OK, point taken. What I meant was that it's not a 'normal' way most people would but a car - i.e. ÂŁ1000 deposit on a Ford they've never even seen, let alone driven and have to wait a year for. If someone had told me I'd be doing this, a couple of years ago, I'd have looked at him like your neighbour looked at you.

You can't win with the engine choice either. If you say you're buying a thirsty American V8, half the people look at you like you must be mad. If you say it's not the V8, the opther half look at you strange as well. The Ecowhatnow?!

I'm sure mustang drivers don't give a damn what others think anyway, as we'll all look awesome in our cars. I know I'll be feeling like this when I pick mine up ......

I was renewing my current car's insurance with Admiral today and the guy I was talking to was American and we started talking about the Mustang.

He said that the 2015 was now in their database so he'd get me a rough quote.

He came back and said only the 2.3 was in the database.

He didn't know the answer why but I hope that this doesn't mean that the cheaper companies just won't be covering the V8 at all.
Did he give you a quote for the 2.3l anyway? I'd be curious to see a rough figure

I drive a 5.0 as my daily driver and don't think I could ever go backwards. I mainly do city driving and average 19 mpg. I'm fine with it, since my previous DD (GMC Yukon) was doing 15 mpg.

If I get 19 mpg in town I'll be freakin delighted, plus our gallons are bigger... :)

Bit concerned about the insurance situation now though.

My GT PP is a daily driver. It's not ideal as a DD but it works. Traffic kind of sucks with the stick but this car performs way better with the stick. The Ford Auto is not a performance tranny at all.

Though I've never been a petrolhead I've always wanted a Mustang. Right from when I was a kid and I had the red Corgi from 'Diamonds are Forever'.

A couple of months back I had a few hours to kill in Guilfdord and needing a new company car I went to the usual garages, BMW, Audi, Merc etc. however a mate told me to have a look at a garage up the road who had a couple or LHD 2015's.

NEVER in my life have I been blown away by a car until then. Boom, I was beaten, it was useless to resist. The only decision I had to make was to go 2.3 or 5.0.

I pressed the Start button on the dash of the GT and it was game-over, decision made. Sod the mileage, insurance and road tax - the V8 was calling!

Ah yes, the company car. That's about the only way I would ever end up with a new car in the UK

I use my 5.0 as a daily driver, I have to take my two kids to two different schools on the way to the office. I average 14 mpg lol. I don't care though, coming from the UK, I laugh at how cheap gas is every time I fill up (currently $2.05 per gallon here in Tucson)

Getting the two kids in and out of the backseat is a nightmare though. I am looking forward to the summer holidays. After that, I might buy an old truck or something to use as my DD and keep the GT for a weekend toy

The ecoboost feels plenty fast for me. And also oil is going back up pretty quickly. I love my car. I'm a mid 30's guy that drives pretty conservatively so take that into account. If you are a speed racer type then the GT is the better bet for you.

Are you saying you could beat an auto in a drag race?

I owned a 2014 v6 last year for that exact reason. Wanting to save money. A year later I own a V8 and the amount I spend on gas hasn't changed much. I honestly say happiness over shadows any excuse I'VE made to settle for less. I personally say get the V8 only because it will keep you happy. Or you may spend the next year wishing or wondering as I did.

Coming from a guy who is not a die hard V8 Fan.

P.S. I average 18 in my gt mostly city driving.
