2.3 or 5??

Have ordered the 2.3 because is a daily driver.
Do about 10k in car and about 2k in van.

Any of u guys ordered the 5l for an every day car?

I keep having second thoughs, but might just get 2.3 modded.

Was running about 400 bhp from my mk2 Rs focus.

I had a new v8 camaro for 3 years as my daily driver about 15 years ago - lhd and I managed fine - if you can afford the fuel hit. It averaged about 24mpg and it looks like mustang v8 would around the same. I hope the ecoboost will do a lot better - about 28 or more for me. I don't do much city driving.
Only you can decide the trade off between 320 bhp and 28mpg or 435bhp and 24mpg.. Or a lot less if you do a lot of city driving!

Think I'd settle for 24 mpg, only used to get 27mpg from my RS .
Is that all there is between the 2 on paper 4 Mpg?

I've run a Grand Marquis 4.6 V8 as a dd. I didn't intend to but it was such a hoot to drive such a large car briskly in London traffic. Only did around 12mpg in the City though but 26 on a fast motorway run.

Hoping the Mustang might be a little better as I have gone for 5.0.

The very reason I ended up going v8 is I really cant see the benefit of the Ecoboost. The figures I am seeing just dont seem enough better than the V8

There is a huge difference between the "urban" and "extra-urban" consumption - for the fastback it is:

So if you are mainly "city" the V8 could be as low as 14mpg, and the EB man 28, and EB auto down at 19. If mostly cruising at 75mph, then it isn't too bad - EB man at 41.5 and the V8 auto at 34.5.

Of course, it all depends on how you drive it!

And oil is on the way back up - over $65 now, so I can guarantee the petrol prices will be going up soon as well...

I just wish they would "tune" the EB auto to be a little better and get the CO2 under 225g, but why worry - it's a Mustang!

I think it depends on what you're used to as well. For me, the 310BHP of the EB is twice as much as my current car and it'll also be the first brand new car I've ever bought. So I'll be thrilled to bits with this. This also leaves room for a nice GT 'lifestyle upgrade' in the future.

If you're weighing up the cost, insurance premiums are also an unknown at the moment. They might turn out to be a nasty surprise depending on what type of person the underwriters think the average mustang buyer might be.

FWIW, I have a EB with the 6spd manual and performance package (3.55 gears). A guy I work with has a GT with the 6spd manual no performance package (3.31 gears). We both drive in the same suburban environment. I am getting 28-29 mpg, he is getting 17-18 mpg. With very careful driving I can get mid 30's best he can do is low mid 20's.

There is a much larger real world difference in mileage between the EB and 5.0 than the ratings.

Been thinking it over, for the extra £4k then the extra taxes and fuel costs etc, I will stick with the EB.
And probably spend a 2k tuning it up, tune , exhaust, IC,

EB all the way for me - it's the best of both worlds IMO. 5.0 would be great fun for sure but too much for everyday use. I have a long commute so want to keep running costs low...hoping for mid 30's mpg (on a sensible drive!).
Would be keen to know what the split is in the UK, seeing as the EB was aimed at the Euro market anyway.
Seems to be more V8's on order looking at this forum. Here's hoping I don't regret my decision eh?!

Out of about 15 orders at the dealer Ford have put me through, only mine is an EB, rest all GTs.
I'd love a GT but financially its out of the question, fuel, tax, insurance are all a bit mental. In these times of austerity i honestly dont understand how people can afford to run the V8 as a daily.

I must admit it took me ages to decide but I am making up my mind but I don't see enough difference in the fuel consumption, tax we can pay monthly now and it is kind of a second car.

Silly thing is, the only reason I decided to buy a Mustang was when I found out it would have the Ecoboost engine. I just then got hooked into the whole thing and thought, its gotta be V8!!

I think most people have ordered for that very reason. Anything less than a V8 doesn't sound quite right but the EB specs are still mighty impressive. Plenty enough for me anyway. I saw quite a few 2015's in the flesh last week in the US, heard a few V8's roar down the road as well - can't beat that sound. Probably worth the extra money just for that?

I was renewing my current car's insurance with Admiral today and the guy I was talking to was American and we started talking about the Mustang.

He said that the 2015 was now in their database so he'd get me a rough quote.

He came back and said only the 2.3 was in the database.

He didn't know the answer why but I hope that this doesn't mean that the cheaper companies just won't be covering the V8 at all.

daily driving the 5.0. lover every second of it. its a monster that is only happy when you give it adequate amounts of Gasoline and rubber.
the MPG kinda blows. but Smiles per gallon is at an all time high
