Was wondering how many others have had this problem, its nuts trying to get to it with the brace in the PP version. I pull it out from the firewall side and insert it from the radiator side while guiding it with my right hand into the hole ( as someone else said). The hole has to be 8 inches below the brace. This has gotta be the worst location for the dipstick in the history of cars. Here are some pics. The dipstick grip is yellow

I too noticed it's a bit flimsy like my wifes Subaru. Never gave it much thought though.

If you do happen to kink it by accident, DO NOT put it back in. You're basically SOL, and need to get a new dipstick. The last thing you need is for the kink to turn into a break, and end up with a broken dipstick in your crankcase.
