$175/hr for dyno time

Hi folks,

I was just quoted $175/hr with a minimum of 2 hours for some dyno time at a local tuning shop. Just time to do runs on a dyno, no tuning. Is this a normal rate for this service? I just need to do some data logging but I don't care to run my car up to 100mph on the street.

Ideas/thoughts?

Not sure how, dyno services are up there but here locally in South Texas We get charged $50 for 2 pulls , && I normally datalog in the streets..

the local shop here in san jose, ca charges $70 for 3 pulls and will give you a print out

$175/ hour seems very high for just some runs, no tuning. Imo, dynos never have the same load as the street. I recently rented a dyno for some testing, and found out the tune that made the most power on the dyno, didnt run so well on the street.

$175/hour is quite high! Here in IL I've found it ranges from $70 to $100/hr. with a printout

$50 for 3 pulls here, no idea about hourly. Tons of Dyno days though where you either go for free or pay like $10

Per my emails with Performance Evolution:
"Baseline runs on dyno are $85 for two pulls, hp and torque only."

I am hoping to schedule my Baseline pulls in the next week or two. I have to check with the boss to see what weekends we have free. I know she will want to go as well.

For dyno pulls without tuning, that's definitely high.

I charge 50 for 3 runs w/ Air Fuel in Florida , Seems like there trying to make a bit of coin off you

Not to far fetched, we used to charge $160.00 per hour for dyno tuning with no minimum. We were on the high side to keep the stream of business low because we were so overwhelmed.
