OP has nothing to lose by trying the re-format. Some F150 owners have had this very thing happen to them and reported that going the Cyanlabs route, fixed the touch screen.
If that fails, then get the dealer invloved and expect to pay. The other option is to contact @HextallS550 or @breeves002 he may be able to offer some advice or get you a new working APIM.

Todd, I respectfully disagree. Dealers have no idea what Cyanlabs is. If he tries to do the update and it fails he may be in for more than just an APIM. OP can do what he wants but without even knowing what version he is running I would err on the side of caution.

OK, thought maybe you didn't hold it long enough.

So another reason not to do a software update is that you do not know what you're updating from. In a 2017 one has to presume that you have version 3.0. Ford never officially made the current version, 3.4, available for your car because of a change to the APIM (the brains of the Sync system). The Cyanlabs version changes the APIM so that it works. The issue is that your problem may be a bad APIM. If this is the case updating the software could only make things worse. Like it or not if the simple fixes do not work you may have to bite the bullet and bring it into the dealer.
This member had the same issue. Maybe reach out and see if he ever got it resolved.

Shockingly, the dealer I bought from (Lincoln) said they’ll look at it for me so we will see how it goes.

hope someone finds this helpful. i was able to fix it today!

I went on ford sync update and put it on a flash drive. I believe it is 3.0.2024?

anyways, took 20min to update with a couple reboots. Shut the car off and back on....all good now. screen is functioning again!!!

I saw your other post first. Glad all is working. At least it wasn't the APIM. Go ahead and update to 3.4 if you want. Just make sure you ask for the update that includes maps 1.20.

I’ve never been able to get the vehicle “auto update” feature to work - ever. Not in my prior 2016 and not in my current 2018. WiFi features and access is all correct, it will connect but every time I’ve tried, the damn thing just spins for eternity. I gave up trying to ever do an “auto update” and IIRC, I too turned it off.
