Thanks for the insight. I have installed the Ford Racing sport mufflers and am just installing the SCT X4 tunes. Wondered if the intake would have much impact.

I think the tuner will probably have the most.

Not only have we verified hp and tq increases using the Airaid but we have also experienced and felt a much harder pulling car using this CAI.

Back to back road tests were done with and without this CAI and when using this intake it keeps on pulling up top where the stock box lays over.

Not sure why you dont get a SOTP feel using yours, we certainly do with our car. Maybe there is a difference in the cars themselves, is yours an auto with PP or not?

We also do not sell anything that does not perform as advertised nor will we ever run a part on our own car that does not show good gains and a value for the money spent.

Kind of hard to argue against an impartial customer review. I dont doubt that it changes the numbers a little bit but if it doesnt make a big difference in feel there are a lot of things that can be done with $350

Trust me I appreciate input from everyone on products they purchase. It makes for a much better cross section of opinions and as these products come to market we need this kind of input.

I think the big difference is the auto vs our stick car in the SOTP feel. The Auto with its converter might just be a bit looser feeling and even stock numbers show it to be slower so as mods are added you may not feel increases as well as you do with the stick car.

I'm sure we will have plenty of comparisons as the next few months roll around and I look forward to all of these products proving themselves, or not proving themselves when the chips fall. We are dying to get our car back together and to the track.

Is it possible to install a better flowing filter in the stock location and receive some benefit without changing to another setup?
I am also curious about opening up the grill to allow more airflow to the box.
I am a road course guy and not a drag strip guy so my concern would be aerodynamics on long straights if the grill were opened up.

could also depend on when you installed yours. OP states that the car was already tuned and he just put the new intake on. if you guys went stock vs intake it could have had a bigger impact on throttle response etc. just an observation.

And to the OP surprisingly most factory airboxes are well designed. I know on subarus the stock airbox is good for 300AWHP and even then most people only swap them out due to going FMIC for higher power levels.

Mbreinin, any chance you could post Vdyno plots of your final pre and post intake logs. As long as the conditions were similar in each run, it should be a pretty good measure of whether or not there was a notable improvement.

We have dyno plots from WMS showing that there is, be interesting to see what you show. Provided the ecoboost has been added to Vdyno software that is.

I may be wrong but I don't think he has had the car on the dyno.

I have installed the AiRaid CAI on My car and really couldn't feel that much of a difference when it was on by itself, but when I added the Ford Racing Cat-backs, I could hear it sucking more air, so I think to get the most out of it You need to open up Your exhaust and when I added the tune everything was working at top performance.

I have not put the car on the dyno. I am not really a big dyno fan. I go to the track for the real test of whether a part works. Anyway, WMS proved it makes more power and torque with their dyno test.

Mike
Ah, sorry I wasn't clear.

I was referring to a free software called Virtual Dyno (Vdyno), that is found at here. It uses WOT logs recorded by devices like the AP or SCT to build a dyno chart after some math. With the right parameters input it is very accurate. It is very popular in other communities for that reason. Most people don't use it to show how much power they make (though it is usually very close to reality), but rather the relative gains. It is the perfect tool for this situation as it provides an unbiased objective measure, as long as the logs were taken in similar conditions.

Unfortunately, I just looked and saw that the car editor hasn't added the 2015 mustang yet. One would have to build a profile off the last gen GT or V6 and input the appropriate numbers (gear ratio, final drive, weight, tire diameter) for your car. If you already have them, it'd take you 30 seconds to make the changes.

But you are correct we do have results from WMS on a dyno. I'm really only curious to see if you actually got a different result, doesn't really matter in the end.

I'm not totally shocked to hear this about the Airaid. I had an Airaid intake on my old BRZ and it didn't do much there either. Nothing against Airaid but like the OP said I think the money would be better spent elsewhere.

I put the Airaid on my car this morning and after driving it most of the day I did notice a little better Throttle response but it was nothing dramatic like I thought it would be..it does look awesome under the hood though..saving for a tune next.

I can't believe there is an argument over seat of the pants feel. The only thing that matters is a back to back 1/4 mile comparison.

If you don't mind posting them could you tell us what kind of times you ran at the track? The reason I'm asking is because I don't think I've seen anyone post any track times or videos of them racing their ecoboost except for companies selling products for them. I enjoy seeing the companies testing their parts for them but I'm more interested in seeing what average people like myself are running with them at the track.
