Hi People

Just asking if any of the greater population has had an engine failure sure to an piston sings. The car was un modified and was being treated like a baby. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Cheers

Gavin

Sorry to see this. Not many engine failures happen especially stock.
Did you use correct octane gasoline?
Was your oil low?
Did you drive your car hard before it warms up?

Wow that's terrible. Haven't seen damage that bad on a stock motor. As the other posters have asked, was it cylinder 8? I've heard that these engines have a tendency to run hot on the back two cylinders.

It was the eight cylinder and it was number seven that the ring had failed on. I did not note the engine head getting over 93-96 deg c and it has only had 98ron and never driven hard at all.

I take it this will be covered under warranty by Ford.

I change my oil every 3,000miles (~5,000km) or 3 months whichever is first.
Don't understand or trust Ford's upto 1yr upto 10k mile (16k km) oil program thing.
Tried it once on my truck, engine acted weird and oil looked horrible.

Also check my oil level often.

In any case, should not have happened. Keep us posted. I'm curious what Ford says.

My 16 GT PP Cylinder 8 failed at 5000 miles

Good luck getting an extended warranty. Ford sucks, wouldn't give me anything more than 75,000 miles

Probably just a manufacturing defect. Sucks for sure, but it does happen. Honestly, with the number of Gen2 Coyotes out there between the Mustang and F150, the number of failures is extremely low.

That's about why my cylinder head temps are. Nothing unusual.

The cylinder wall looks pretty badly scored. I hope Ford gives you a new short block under warranty, then just bolts the heads and everything else from your old engine on top.
