Being babied isn't always the best measurement of reliability. Sometimes "babying" new cars does not help the effort of avoiding problems. Personally I feel as if a car should be driven pretty hard during new ownership to help settle/seal the engine and to surface any defects early on. The upside to your case is, if you were stock you shouldn't have any fighting and you will be taken care of. There's just no possible way to have a 100% reliability on a mass produced machine.

That's the problem you been treating it like a baby. That is a lot of carbon build up on a fairly new car. And the carbon got wedged in the rings causing damages to the cylinder walls.
I don't baby any of my vehicles. I take them to redline full throttle daily basis and all my engines don't burn a single drop of oil.
