So which one's the better transmission as far as durability and performance goes. Say if I planned on building a boosted 800+ hp car for track and occasional trips to Mexico, which one would be the better transmission for maximum performance and reliability? It would also be nice to hear pros and cons of both.

Boosted? Probably the 6r, but it will need upgrades.

I believe this battle would go to a built 6R80 as the 10R80 is a ctv type trans.

10r80 is faster and not weak. 6r80 is stronger but not slow. But they aren’t interchangeable.

Boosted I'd rather have less gear changes. Same reason many use power glides. If really making power a slipper clutch would get my vote.

What's the general consensus on maximum safe power levels on both? And what's the failure points on the 10r80? I know from first hand experience the 6r will break the one way low reverse clutch from too many hard launches. Also I know about the forward planetary

I've seen lots of built 10r80 cars going fast. Mostly for roll racing.

I think stock for stock the general consensus is the 6r80 will hold more power.
