Has anybody put a thermal bypass delete valve in your 10r80 transmission and have issues not getting up to operating temperature and or putting itself in neutral going down the track?

thanks in advance

I think one of the only one that did that mod and tracked it was @Flyhalf , but I imagine you would have a hard time getting up to 205* operating temp with it wide open. On the street I think the most people are hitting is 130*.

What do you want to accomplish? (Personally I think it's a terrible idea. And I'll send you mine if you want it. Never installed it.)

You could always install a lower temperature thermostat inline. Something in between the abnormally high stock one and the abnormally low bypass. That way you can get some temperature in the unit but also still get a big headroom in cooling.

I just installed a second OEM cooler in series with the first one. Normal temp on the street and never exceeds 215F on track. This weekend it was running 200F at Putnam.

Trans behaves both sitch.

I use the thermostat bypass by SPEEDITALIARACING.COM and it works very well.
But in cold ambient temps u may have issue on going up with temps. My personal recommendation is to tape the inlet area of the cooler for the first session. This will be enough to warm up enough the trans in case of very cold temps.
In general colder temps are better for longevity of the transmission however too cold (below 100) is just too cold.

it’s already installed in the transmission. Already has a 170 thermostat. I had a Ford tech say that when you put these in the transmission, there’s issues of the trans not being warm enough while going down the 1/4 and possibly putting itself in neutral by itself because of that.

was at the track a couple weeks back and I don’t know if it did it because I spun or I had a ford tech say when it’s installed when going down to 1/4 it might not be warm enough and possibly because of that put itself in neutral. It’s already installed in my transmission. I believe it gets to about 140 and that’s it. Do you think that would have any issues going down the track?

130f to 200f at the track is really good.
My advice is still To tape the top center grille (in case of oem 2018+ mustang cooler) to avoid airflow to warm up the fluid. And once you are at the track younprobably at 100f . Keep in mind that even in oem situation the fluid starts cold anyway. It warms up faster. But start at low temps anyway. I doubt anyone wait idling till
Reaches 130f.
The issue with the 10speed is : above 225f (no matter what other can say) the clutches start to slip (especially higher rpm) the shifting is erratic (in D or paddles) and is also starting to ruin the clutch/plates.

Yes you can install a inline 130f thermostat (improved racing) especially in case of double coolers.

Used to have a high temp on my 2021 gt performance 10r80, in the past it was reaching 212 F it’s a pit more than it should be while normal cruising. In a traffic light it reached way further. Am typing now and i just installed the thermal bypass valve by myself, and it sets on 130 F which is Quite obviously remarkable change. I would recommend it for sure.
