10R80 Operating Temp

So I am taking my car in for a trans fluid drain/filter. I have never seen my transmission at 200 deg. What is the quickest way to get it up to operating temperature without beating the daylights out of it to check the fluid level. I just can't see this shop doing what it takes to properly check the fluid level.

I know when I am sat in traffic with D selected the temp can clime quickly.

The temp indicator may only increase to 195 or so, but as long as it's at its upper limit, you'll be ok. It may take 30 minutes or more of driving to get there.

Drive it in sport or sport+. It'll hold the gears longer and cause the temps to rise up. I don't consider this beating the daylights out of it considering the cars are meant to be driven spirited.

I have been shopping for a place a reasonable distance from me for a year. Everyone looks at me like I am nuts when I ask them if they check the fluid with the car running and the trans temp at 200 degrees (even my local Ford dealership). This place is the best I've found, but I am still not convinced they will spend the time to get it to the proper temp. I'm all ears if you know of a place near dexter MI. I am driving to Livonis for the shop I found.

Car has 30K on it. I do not subscribe to Ford's 150K interval, it's a joke. I have always changed fluid at 30k-40k, this transmission is more complicated and has known issues so I'm changing it for piece of mind. I'm also changing rear diff, changing to the yellow coolant and changing brake fluid. I do my own oil changes before storage. I am a firm believer in fluid maintenance, I'll do this now and I won't have to worry about it for years.

I agree that all Manufacturers service intervals, are not to my likings , so I change oil at 3 k daily drivers , and Mach at 1,500 to 2 k more for time than milage. I think you have a better chance with a Ford Dealership doing it correctly as your transmission service isn't the first one they have done . And if something goes upside down, they did it it's covered , if a private shop services , and you're looking at worst case scenario, I'm sure they won't take liability and replace your 8 to 10 k Transmission.
When I decide it's time for a trans service,I'll have my Ford Dealership doing it.
Good luck kinda like rolling the dice , on private shops taking liability in worst case scenarios .
Now I'm not saying a Dealership is 100% , nothing is in life , but you have more of a recourse with Ford don't ng it correctly and taking liability.

My history with dealership service is terrible. I will never take my car to a dealership unless it is a warranty repair. I have the ESP Premium so I am not worried about someone taking responsibility.

I have an ESP Premium plan as well til 2032 , but try to claim negligence in any way private shop , beating on you car or whatever, putting a claim in on your ESP . They will Not fix it , but if Ford had just did service and something goes wrong it is covered.
Sounds to me by your comment having a ESP and I am not worried about someone taking responsibility, that if negligence is found to be the cause it fixed . It doesn't work that way . Good luck...

Yes really, changing fluids , can also be done improperly and checking the full level not per proper procedure can cause damage . So yes really ..... LOL
