I've been doing a little research over the past few months will little help.

My car is a base 300a GT PP1 10 speed auto with a Whipple Stage 2.

When roll racing, I can't seem to find a happy median between S & D mode.

Regular D mode will upshift automatically too quickly before getting to lay down the throttle in my desired gear. S mode does not seem to upshift at the 7800rpm "redline" after getting in the throttle when I use the paddle shifters initially to get my desired gear. Instead, the motor will rev to 8k until I shift myself. This has only happened a couple of times as I don't really like to pass the 7800rpm redline set by the Whipple tune.

Advice please?

HP tuners, have unlocked a trans feature where you can paddle shift to the desired gear in Drive and then it will automatically up shift to your shift points that are set by your tune. You have 40 seconds to hit your wot shift point say 7800rpm before it will go back to normal driving shift points.

Don't think of "S" mode on the shifter as sport, think of it as manual mode. To get it to auto upshift after setting your gear in S mode, you need to bump the shifter back up into D

Lund has a manual mode tune too. I think it disables the rev matching in S but now you get to lock in what gear you want and it shifts automatically from there. Other than that, D stays normal and you can use S specifically for roll racing.

If you slap the gas petal to the floor and release it, it will shift into the lowest gear possible.

Takes a little practice to use but it works pretty well. Just slap on the 1-2 count and you are generally in the correct gear.

Without drive modes the only other thing I can think of is to S into proper gear, hit drive as you take off then back to S.

Thanks for the help!

Looks like I have a couple tune and manual operation options!

I'd appreciate any more info that is out there.

Put it in “sport”, paddle to desired gear, 3rd for 40-45 roll, smash it, bump to drive, hang on!

That’s what I have, I just downshift until it gets me to a desired lower gear and then punch it, car shift on its own after that. I can also upshift on D.

How do you like it? Any other options that this "tune" offers? Thanks.

It’s not actually a tune, they are just unlocking it in PCM.

PBD can add this longer drive mode gear holding feature too, I have it and its great for roll racing. I tried the S to D method on a 15 roll in first and it hit the 8200 rpm limiter because there seemed to be some slight delay for it to actually activate drive mode (or maybe I just spun up to 8200) so I had them add this to my tune. I wasnt actually doing a 15 roll race but I was testing it. and I dont think 15 rolls are even practical since the 1-2 is where a ton of spin happens too.

Is this only a thing with HPtuners Nguages or does anyone know if its also possible with the whipple tomahawk or SCT tuning devices?

I am surprised that Whipple doesn't offer this.

When I emailed Whipple, they claimed they had no idea how the trans even worked and no idea what to tell me. LOL

Well, no point in having a whipple tune anyway since you are stage 2 and no warranty on that. Id get a PBD nguage and custom PBD tune, probably will gain 50-60+ rwhp too.

This is EXACTLY what happens to me. I can't tell if the trans is just SLOW... or if it's hazing the tires to redline and falling on it's face. I think my edelbrock warranty tune has a redline of 7,600.
