I think I am, for peace of mind. If planning on keeping a long time, it'll be nice.

I think that you can shop around for it - you can get it from any Ford dealer. I think I'd prefer the factory warranty over third party.

I'm guessing around $1500 for a $100K warranty.

I was asking myself this question too. This will be my first car that I am buying by myself...meaning no cosigner

I would never buy an extended warranty on a brand new car.
I understand. I've always heard that from a financial standpoint, it doesn't make sense. But, for me, for peace of mind, maybe. I'd rather being paying a little bit each more for the extended warranty than get hit with a big bill to fix something.

The financial argument against getting one is to take the money you would pay for a warranty and invest over time.

Just like any insurance, I view extended warranties as "peace-of-mind" purchases. If I were shopping for one, I believe there are places to look online to purchase and use as negotiating levers for final pricing.

I'll prob void my warranty so I'll stick to the factory one.

I don't think I'll buy it. But I'll price it before I make the final decision. Would need to buy at least 100K coverage to make it worth my while. That's not cheap.

I would buy it right before the original warranty expires.

Nope because as soon as you tune it, the warranty is toast..and after putting a few thousand miles on it, you will get the urge to mod.

Your warranty will not be void if you have a tune.

This. Some time when I am getting close to the 3 year/36000 mile I will buy one from one of the ford dealers online for like $500-$600. They usually do 1 year same as cash too.

I might get one depending on how long I decide to keep the car.

Unless you're dealer provides free loaners than you'd you'd be foolish not to buy one. If you don't get raped on pricing the warranty can be had for very little $. Wait until the first recall when you're dealer does not have parts and tells you the car cannot be driven until it's fixed. Then you'll have wished you bought the ESP.

It covers the cost of a rental during the ENTIRE warranty period. That alone is worth the extra $500-$800 to me. I can drop off my vehicle in the morning and pick up my loaner while the dealer takes their time doing my oil change/tire rotation and warranty work instead of sitting in the service dept waiting area all day.
