I have a 2015 Mustang GT Premium and the standard warranty will run out next year. I have been solicited by Ford on a couple of occasions to buy an extended warranty offered by them through the dealership. I did have that issue with the AC unit that a lot of people have had. In order for them to fix it they had to remove the dashboard and replace the vaporator. I also had the leather on the drivers seat wear out on the left hand bolster to the point it developed a small hole. The replacement leather is doing the same thing. So I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to get the extended warranty offered (should I decide to keep the car). What do you guys think?

I've paid for them on my last 2 Mustangs, and it was worth every penny both times. I'll get it on my 2016 if I keep it past the 3/36.

The day & age of extended warranties being a rip-off are over, just make sure you get the genuine Ford ESP.

I am pretty sure the leather will not be covered by ANY extended warranty.

If you plan to keep it another 2-3+ years then yes, it might be worth considering. How much is it by the way? $1500 or something like that? The MT82, AC and driveshaft are potential problem areas for the car.

What are you plans for the car? Keep it or trade it soon? Makes all the difference in th world.

I bought my car last May and planning on keeping it for a long time, so I am in for an 8 year ESP warranty. I bought it the day I bought the car. I got a great deal and if I ever decide to trade/sell it should help me get a better dollar.

if you plan on keeping it...buy the ESP warranty. you can buy it from floodfordesp or a few other websites.

if you plan on trading/selling then i wouldn't get it.

I'm putting on miles quick on my car. The 36/36000 will be done in 7 months.

What type of ford ESP do you recommend and what is the average cost? Can't get a clear quote from the website

I got it originally, but now knowing the AC problems these cars are having, especially with the evap core, that's an EXPENSIVE fix tearing out the dash.

I think someone said $1200 to 1500 full cost; obviously mostly tearing out the interior and labor rather than the part.

As others have said... if you plan on keeping the car for a couple more years (I'm keeping mine until the next Gen) then I would say it's absolutely worth it.

I've had 3 mustangs within 4 years.. I had a 12, 15 eco and now the GT. My 12 had the evaporator issue, paint bubbles and a faulty throttle body (was not considered part of the power train warranty due to it being a "attachment", not part of the engine itself). My 15 ecoboost ALSO had a faulty evaporator. As of now I haven't had any issues with the GT (Just waiting for the evaporator to take a shit on this car, seems to be a trend for me).

I'm not worried about the powertrain, it's pretty solid... I'm more worried about all the electronics, they can be just as pricey as any other part.

I went ahead and sprung for it on mine right off the bat. I tend to keep cars around till they fall to crap though. I mean unless I decide I'm making enough to be comfortable with payments on a GT350 or the GT500 when we see it (not bloody likely soon though that'd be awesome!) I see myself keeping this car for a long time. Plus I was still throwing a tantrum that I was having tranny issues on the '06 GT I traded in to them while I still had a bit to pay off on that lol.

Any advice on how to shop around for the best price? Never bought an extended warranty for any of my new cars. With the mileage I'm racking up, I will get one soon.

Google Ford ESP and there are a few options out there. I bought a 5 year 150k plan and it cost around $2500. Well the evaporator failed in my Mustang and the cost to fix it was right around that so it was worth every penny. Get the paid for rental car option too.
