Have about 1700 miles remaining on our 2017 California Specials extended warranty. We have 71350 miles on a babied mustang. I’m 75 my wife 70. Ford dealer wants $2600 for Premium 3year/24k and $1800 for a Base 3yeR/24k.

Had the AC evaporator system replaced on the warranty otherwise it
would have been $2995. I know others on here have had the same issue.

So my main concern is the AC and the Base covers the complete system.
Just had a left rear wheel bearing, speed sensor and intake manifold completed. Crazy on a car that is not beat on in the least.

What do you members think?

Thanks

I guess if you are past doing your own work and it makes you comfortable and doesn't tax your finances then why not?
But it's not really a "warranty". It's really an insurance policy.
At 70 here I still prefer to self insure and do my own work when possible. I take whatever premium they want to charge me (you) and give it to my financial advisor to invest. I intend to keep working on my own stuff as long as I can. If I need a large sumn I just withdraw it from the investment. If it's just a few hundred I'll likely be doing it myself. If no major repairs are needed then at the end, I'm ahead the premium and any interest accrued.

I understand, but the AC evaporates requires a dash removal and I wouldn’t attempt that. Maybe I’ll never have to worry about it since it was done once, I don’t know.
But the concept I understand.
Thanks

I wouldn't attempt the evaporator either. Or an engine or transmission rebuild. I'd probably do an engine or trans swap though.
But you've already had the evap done. I was under the impression that they used an upgrade when they replaced it. Maybe not? In any case, how likely is it to fail again? I don't think I've heard that it's a recurring problem.
I just hate giving the dealer all that money on the off chance something big goes wrong when I can invest it and only spend it if it's truly needed.
You may not be comfortable with that, and that's fine. You asked what the forum thought and I was just offering a viable alternative.

No that’s fine. I truly appreciate it. May just take my chances. Like the dealerships need more?

Waste of money usually stuff fails because car is not driven much or sits over winter....motor and trans failure is so remote if lubes changed. I am now without warranty since last week and not bothered a bit.
