So, due to my recent "your engine needs to be replaced, please enjoy driving this shitbox rental for an unknown duration while we leave your car sit on our lot exposed to the elements due to engines being back ordered" fiasco, I've been reading over my warranty contract.

See my engine warranty issue here: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66091

The dealer I bought the car from, sold me 6 year 100k mile Ford ESP for $1475. I considered this a GREAT deal at that price, especially since it is transferable. This was even before I found out how unreliable this car would be. Within the first week, and 300 miles, I had it at a dealer due to a failed axle.

Anyway, I found something very interesting in the 10 page contract:

Now I was VERY skeptical of this warranty covering my car. The dealer assured me it was, which I imagined was sort of like most adults assuring themselves that they are all "better than average" drivers.

So the next day I contacted Ford using the MyFord website (or w/e it's called, I'm too lazy/furious to go to it and confirm at the moment). I saved my chat log with a representative who confirmed that my car is covered.

Also the contract states if the vehicle is ineligible, I am entitled to a refund.

I haven't brought this up with my dealer, or my regional Ford Service rep who I'm in contact with due to my engine issue. I'm curious to what you all think of this, before I contact Ford.

It is possible that GT350 definition is out of date and needs a year reference, due to the previous models of the Shelby GT350 were not finished at the factory. The 2015+ models are a pure factory assembly. The contract also states the condition for all the listed models, when they are used for racing or competitive driving events. This is what you need to get clarification on.

Let us know what determination comes from the top, I'm sure there are a lot of owners in the same position.

I'm a bit nervous to even bring this up with Ford. I think it shouldn't affect my current warranty service (to the tune of $25k~), as I assume that is being covered under my factory warranty. I guess the best case scenario is the warranty wording is outdated as you say, and my car is covered. Worse case is I hopefully get my $1475 back (and other owners get their $4k they paid for the same warranty back) and I do whatever I can to get rid of this car before the factory warranty expires. Which is exactly what I did with my 2009 GT-R.

I sell Ford ESP (same as US but I am in Canada), and the Shelby GT350 is listed as 'Ineligible'. I would not be able to register the plan even if I did sell it to you. I've heard mixed views on this topic, that some dealers and customers are saying it is eligible. I will try and reigster an ESP to mine once I take delivery and can report back with the results, but as of now I don't see it as being possible. BTW that price of $1475 is great value, if it is real.

And it won't affect your current warranty repair, that is under the base 3/36 warranty. The ESP is the extended warranty and the extended portion is all that is in question.

Thanks for your info. I was shocked at the price. I bought the car in a small town, and had an equally small markup ($1500). I can post the first page of my contract for proof of the price. I'd have to edit it to not disclose my personal information though ... and at that point, who's to say I didn't tamper with the picture to prove I only paid $1475.

You should have no issue with coverage now for your engine issues, just check your window sticker. The specific power train and drive train warranty coverage is printed there, plain as day.

When I bought my car and was sitting down with the finance person, he asked if I wanted the ESP and I told him I was pretty sure it wasn't available on the GT350. He insisted that it was and when he tried to apply it to the sale of my car, it flagged and said ineligible or something to that effect. He was shocked and told me that he hadn't seen that even on prior specialty vehicles.

I wonder if the only "GT350" in their computer is the previous version? (2011)

Funny when I read the statement "I do whatever I can to get rid of this car before the factory warranty expires" because I am torn between being glad when the warranty expires (engine/header mods baby!!!) and sad because maybe the smart thing to do is move to a new toy car (used GT4, Cayman GTS or new GT350 if they are still making them)

They will reimburse you. They have too. Obviously, your dealer was unaware of the stipulation. When I purchased mine, my dealer told me the 350 is not covered.

I wish I could afford a Cayman GTS (or GT4). I'd like to know what it's like to have a car with such precise panel fitment!

I'm going to have to look into this, because my dealer gave me an upgraded 10 year 100k mile warranty on mine, have it on paper too.

GT350 is eligible. I've sold them, and activated them through Ford. The article (as previously said) is referring to the Shelby GT350 that was a 5.0 and upgraded by Shelby America.

Our vins, when out in to Ford a year ago, yielded messages saying no coverage available. Since then, they have added service contracts and maintenance contracts.

The ESP contract that you have was released Oct 15, and they release a new one Every October.

My experiences are the same. My dealer informed me my '16 GT350 was not eligible..
