Catch Can's for Both Driver & Passenger Side??

I have a 2017 GT350R being delivered next week. I was going to purchase the Ford Performance Oil Separators as I like the factory look but it appears that several on this forum have only installed one on the passenger side? Why are people installing only on one side? Are both sides needed?

For people that installed them on both sides and have driven a few thousand miles what is your experience? Are they needed for both sides?

That's a good question.

IIRC, the passenger's side is where most of the oil will be collected. You only need the driver's side can if you're tracking it. I'm only planning on getting one for the passenger's side.

If I got that wrong, someone please correct me.

I installed both, just because I was sent the drivers side by mistake by americanmuscle.com, and I couldn't be bothered sending it back.

I actually said I highly doubt the "need" for these, as this car has no turbo or supercharger that gets "bathed" in it, so....

I've been called a troll before for saying this, so I 'm waiting for a new nomination

Doing both sides is the best bet. Some folks only do the passenger side because that side seems to draw more oil than the drivers side. I can confirm that I have emptied mine twice and in both cases, the drivers side was bone drive, but I'm still glad I have it and I'm sure it will draw as I put on more miles. Doing only one side in my mind is half-assed.

I have both. I got mine from JLT. About a 1 minute install. If one is good, two is better, right ;)

I had both on for about 1,000 miles (sold the car to buy 2017). Only drove it hard for about 160 miles (Tail of Dragon and nearby roads). After all that, the passenger side had a couple of ounces of oil and the driver side was essentially dry (maybe some residue). I would still do both (have them in garage waiting for the new car). I consider the driver side an insurance policy and I eventually intend to take car out on HPDE events several times a year. If it were me, I'd buy both but can understand why some skip drivers side.

The driver side does not collect much but there is definitely filtering going by the smell of it. I would do both sides. The passenger side collects quite a bit. Check out the Bob's ultimate oil separators. They work awesome and you can drain them easily.

Do both sides, especially for track use. A lot of oil comes out of the drivers side from hard cornering.

I second JLT, I have both sides in black aluminum. Very nice quality, fair price. There is no harm in doing both sides, so why not. I can't speak for the others, but on the JLT units you simply unscrew the bottom of the cans to empty them, very easy.
Use SVTP5% for a discount.

I did both sets with the Ford Performance look. I like the OEM look as well. I will say that I'm disappointed with the passenger side quality and fit. Ford Perf really needs to go back and look at this one. It shares the same part with the Mustang GT part but I feel that something just ins't the same. They recently revised the design and removed the hole where the electrical plugs into, so you have to do something extra to secure it. I think they need to tweak the design and make a part just for the 350.
