So my Thoughts after installing the MAP CAI this weekend and driving around a few days.
Installing the CAI was very easy, the Hardest thing about it was putting the recirc hose from the BOV back on with out the right set of pliers.
It is one long piece and it takes some finessing to get it by all of the hoses and down to the turbo as well as small hands to get the filter on from inside the fender.
All in all I was very impressed with the quality and fit as everything lined up to the millimeter. didn't have to pull or push to get the bolt on the fender to line up at all.
It makes the turbo audible but not boy racer-ish at all with good suction noise on boost and a subtle woosh from the recirc when you let off, which to me is perfect. I suppose you could block it off with the provided cap and vent to atmosphere to get more noise but that's not what I wanted.
Yesterday was 31 C+ and while puttering around in traffic I say really high IAT's of like 45-48, but as soon as I left the grid lock the temperature dropped Rapidly to 35 or 4 degrees above ambient.
I pulled on to the Autobahn and stared feeding in some boost until I got to the posted 120kph limit. At this point My IAT was 33 C or only 2 degrees above ambient. Thats when I came up on my favorite traffic sign ever, Unlimited autobahn! I Went WOT from 5th until 6th to 234 Kph before someone got in my way, the Car was still pulling hard with Just the Cobb 93 OTS.
I took a look at the monitor and IAT was 31 degrees, 0 above ambient! (sorry no pic but I kind of had my hands full at 145 mph:lol
.
I don't dare to go much faster anyways as I'm well beyond the limit of the H rated tires that came with the car (210kph) I have already received my new W rated tires and just waiting for the wheels to arrive.
As a note to anyone wondering, the base brakes do a admirable job of hauling the car down from 'ludicrous speed' and can easily overpower the front wheels grip, so more than enough for non track use. I think the primary advantage of the PP brakes will be resistance to brake fade after repeated hard braking as opposed to initial stopping distances with similar tires.
My only regret with this intake was not getting the Black powder coat option. That would have looked amazing, Fortunately Adam has gotten me a Back Intercooler which is awesome
and I'll get the intake done at some point. Even Raw though, it still looks like it belongs there from the factory.
I can't wait for my Inter cooler to arrive so I can put that on with the MAP catless downpipe and an Adam tune to turn this into a real Monster! My goal is to hit 300kph (186 MPH) on the Autobahn, I'm stating to think I may have set the bar too low.
More to come when my parts arrive!
Will I be the first Full MAP Ecoboost in the old world?
EDIT: As fast as I'm willing to push the H rated Hankooks
155mph and still pulling
