Didn't see a thread here so I thought I'd start one, theres one over in the 5.0 section also with a few videos.

My car started doing this today, when I start it cold it will make this crazy rattle/knock/ping noise, but it comes from the exhaust and only lasts for maybe 15-20 seconds. It sounds almost exactly like a bad rod bearing or valvetrain ping, but its coming straight out the rear tail pipe. It sounds exactly like the car in this video:

Is there a TSB or anything out there for it? I saw there was one earlier on for a cat converter issue but its not specific. I want to see if this is an actual issue with an exhaust, if it is I won't take it into the dealer because I'm getting my cat back pretty soon, but if its a header or cat issue I'd like to get it taken care of. Anyone else?

Looking forward to what they find out. Mine is due for an ail change. Maybe I'll have them check it out while it's there.

Just to update, mine is getting pretty bad. I'm waiting on my Borla S type exhuast which I'm pretty sure would fix it, as it sounds like its coming from the resonator area, but no telling how much longer it will take to get it. Might have to take it to the dealer in the mean time as it sounds like an old rust bucket exhaust.

Even with my resonator removed and an H-pipe welded on without clamps, I have the rattle. It seems especially prevalent below 30 degrees. The last time I changed oil, I crawled around underneath and could not find anything loose or interfering with my muffler's fitment. I hope it's not coming from the stock headers.

Damn. Hopefully the dealer doesn't just blow you off and try to say its your H pipes fault.

I was almost sure that it was the resonator. It sounds like its coming directly from that area on my car.

So another update just for anyone reading this thread in the future. My car completely stopped rattling today. Don't know why or how, but pretty much all at once it stopped. I can't replicate it now if I try. I was planning on taking it to the dealer before I put my exhaust on, but now I think it will just be a waste of time as it doesn't make the noise anymore. I'm going to have my exhaust off on this wednesday so I'll be able to visually inspect the resonator and all that.

Mine does it off and on. I went out a few days ago and tried to figure it out and it didn't make a peep. Yesterday, it would only do it with a very light blip of the throttle. I'll have them check it out when I drop it off for an oil change.

I got out of work at 06:00 today and when I left the parking lot, my brakes squealed like never before and my exhaust rattled just like it did in the video I posted. I then went to the dealership today for my appointment. I told the service guys about my brake squeal and exhaust rattle on start-up. The mechanic drove around for a good amount and the mechanic started the car several times and we could not replicate anything. I showed the mechanic a video of the rattling sound after we drove around without being able to replicate the rattle. I then let the dealership check it out on their lift and they asked what area the noise comes from. I said it seems to come from the front of the car. They said they had it on their lift and were unable to find anything wrong, but they did get my TSB parts ordered for my brakes in the end.

Keep an eye on that. Let me know if it comes back and we'll pick up then.

My 2015 GT started doing this about a week ago. I noticed it first on downshifts while driving. I have an automatic trans. When the car downshifts it sounds like a muffler brake on a semi. Instead of a throaty downshift, I get a tinny rattle just like the video posted. Last two days when I start the car, for about 30 seconds it makes the noise as in the video. Of course today I am at the dealer and it stopped doing it while driving. Anyone else have this issue? Sounds like the resonator area of the car.

Mine is rattling between 2100 and 2500 rpms especially on deceleration. I have the FRPP Borla Touring catback. I have adjusted and tightened clamps and adjusted some more but I cant seem to find the rattle anywhere and it drives me nuts with the windows down. Mine only seems to do it when its warm.
