So I have a CJ Pony Parts H-pipe and a catch can, but otherwise everything is stock on my car. The other day I was riding through my parking garage at work and I noticed around turns, with low RPM and generally on the engine winding down I have this odd rattle noise. I'd describe it kind of like a heat shield rattle maybe? Hollow like metallic sound. For all I know it may have always been there, I was listening more than normal when I noticed it because I had bumped up against a curb that morning (just scraping my rear rim a little :frusty
.
Anyhow, I backed my car out of my garage this morning and left it running to look around a bit to see if i could figure out where it is coming from, my first assumption is something to do with the H-pipe and cut and clamp system. I look there and everything looks OK, sounds OK when throttling up the engine and idle. I do see some moisture coming out of the clamps, and I see some at the clamps from the cats as well. Not sure if that is normal or not, maybe needs a little torquing on the bolts so I'll probably get that done.
I was laying on the ground and pressing the gas pedal with my hand a little to see if I could replicate it, but I may have barely heard it once or twice, sounds pretty normal overall. I wish I could capture the sound, I tried to pull my dashcam video without the stereo on but it doesnt really register there either. Anyone else know what this could be, or maybe it is normal?
