Why don't exhaust systems have dyno data?

Not picking on any particular manufacturers, things seem to be the same across the board.

Anyone know why we are seeing several exhausts developed already but no dyno data for them? Coming from a motorcycle background I had assumed that dyno runs would be part of developing an aftermarket exhaust system.

I'm assuming that this means that performance gains to the Mustang from just a new exhaust are very minimal and no particular design aspect (2.5" versus 3", H pipe versus x pipe) makes noteworthy difference to performance?

I'm not intending to imply that I know what the deal is but this is the only explanation that I can come up with.

I think it's just a lack of time. The aftermarket for the 15 is brand new. Even companies with Full exhaust systems don't have that data available yet. That's replacing everything including the headers.

Truth is, initially most people care about sound.

I did baseline pulls on my car a couple weeks ago (going to have them redone, hopefully tomorrow) and I am getting my SW cat back Wednesday. I will do more dyno pulls afterwards. I'm doing this fort my own satisfaction and also to document my build. I'm also doing it so I can present to anyone who is interested in absolute real world, unbiased raw data from a real car and not some specially prepared company car. Obviously all cars will vary somewhat, but hopefully my experience can and will be representative of what anyone can truthfully expect.

Two things, cat backs really aren't for HP gain. It's to lose weight, get a distinct sound and make your car sound the way it should. Headers and the removal of the cats is where you'll notice HP gain.
Second, this is basically the same engine as the 11-14's hence being able to use the same headers. Gains from the s197 platform are most likely going to be the same or very similar to one another.

Unless you get rid of the cats or go longtubes, it's all for sound.
You might check out some of the catback threads.
Along with losing weight I seem to remember a couple of the threads that mentioned before and after dyno pulls that indicate the catbacks are gaining 20-30 HP over the factory system. One in particular was same day & dame fuel in the tank and same tune.
I am not interested in going back over all the other catback installation threads, you need to do that for yourself.

VERY interested in the results. Please start a new thread when you get all the data! You rock! :clap2:

Look at the post right above yours from a Vendor who pretty much echo'd what I just said. Those who claim 20-30HP from a catback alone are misleading you. They either tuned the car or made other mods at the same time and are merely showing the catback.

I haven't seen an independent test showing anything close to results like that. Only the manufacturers show those huge gains which are more marketing than testing.

I started out with those threads and that took me to starting this one.

My read at the moment is that the manufacturer who made claims of big horsepower gains with just a catback ,was, to put it extremely politely, pulling customers legs.

Cat backs are mainly for sound, typically at stock levels, a system is not corked up 20-30 hp, unless ford had big plans for aftermarket exhaust

Bullnshit cats dont restrict any more then some of these factory mufflers.Headers will give u a good boost in horsepower if u choose the right ones.Catbacks make their their power using larger tubing, getting rid of all the terrible bends and kinks that also increase flow and other things.Thats why mandrel bending is so important.I removed the cats on my 05 gt and gained 3 hp.Guys calling these manufacturers being dishonest need to learn about exahust and exhaust flow, but the numbers are coming.

so will 11-14 headers fit without any hacking/modifying of anything?

And im not saying 30 hp is going to be the magic number is ut those saying 5 hp is laughable. Maybe fromn a Toyota corola.
