I put this as a reply in another thread, but wanted to post it here, too. I spent a good two hours trying to adjust the hood latch to make the hood close easier to no avail.

Turns out it was just because the bumpers were turned out WAY too high.

I turned each one down about three turns. Then I could close the hood easier, and the hood gap was fixed!

But now the hood moved up and down a little after latching, so I just kept turning the bumpers back out, little by little, until they just touched.

The bumpers being too high caused both issues:

1. The hood was hard to close and was basically just bouncing off the bumpers instead of latching.

2. When the hood would finally close, the bumpers were pushing up against the hood, slightly bending it, and making the gap wider than it should have been.

You can even see in this picture I posted yesterday that the gap was a little wide. But it looks better now!

Here are where my bumpers ended up being (they were 2-3 turns out before). And a shot of the nose. The center was the same before (because the hood was latched), but toward the outsides of the hood, the gap was a great deal wider.

My hood has the same disease. So you just screw in the whole rubber bumper?

Yes. They will be hard to turn, but that's so they don't vibrate and turn on their own.

Turn them down quite a bit until they are too low. Then try closing the hood... it will probably be a lot easier.

Then you want to turn the bumpers back out until they just are touching the hood and putting a little pressure on it when the hood is latched. This is hard to do, since you obviously can't see the bumpers when the hood is closed. You just have to do a little trial and error - but you don't want the hood to move up and down when latched (this indicates the bumpers aren't touching the underside of the hood).

Let me know how it works! :)

It seems to have done the trick. The bumper on the passenger side is easier to turn because you can access the back side of the bumper. The bumper on the driver side is harder to turn because the back side is inaccessible without removing the resonator. Anyway, it looks like I'm good to go now. I also noticed while working that there is some touch-up paint around the fender mount bolts on both sides. They seem to have done a much better job on mine than the ones that led someone on this forum to reject their car.

I keep seeing more and more pictures with the hood gap closer in the center and wider on the sides... so I need to bump this thread for others to see. :)

Yes, good idea making a thread. Mine was hard to close, and after 3 days, I tried this. Mine is a still a bit tight (on purpose), but much easier to close now. I turned them down quite a bit.

I had the same kind of issue on my Pathfinder it took a while to get it strait. BTW, in a few years after everything has settled in, you may hear an annoying squeak (more of a chirp), and you'll be looking all around for it, go strait to those rubber bumpers, that will be where it's coming from.

I had the issue with the hood not wanting to shut unless I drop it from pretty high. I turned down the bumpers until it was easier to close. Then the hood line sat lower than the fender, so I put the bumpers back to where they were.

The leading edge of my hood sits just slightly below the facia, but it's even all the way across. I think I will leave well enough alone!

It definitely requires some fine-tuning.

Mine was obviously "warped"... the gap went from wide to close to wide.
