i just did what you said it worked out perfectly, anyone can do it under 10 minutes, it closes when it drops, no pressure,it was terrible before that, i made few pics to make it easier ,
1. after removing 4 fasteners pull upward because board is hooked in from above, use a little force.

2. after that loosen two bolts just so you can slide latch upwards , just a hair, tighten it and close the trunk, if its not good enough, redo and bring latch little higher.

3. put everything back together and enjoy one trouble less

What about the trunk alignment vs rear fenders? Still the same?

Did it too. It is so much easier to close now, but the alignment on the right side is off for a tiny bit. But I'm ok with that as long as I din't need to slam the lid with a risk to damage the bumper

Ironic, because I just did the trunk latch adjustment today also (have been thinking of doing it for a couple weeks). I did it mainly to get the bottom edge of the center piece on the trunk (piece with the GT emblem on it) raised up some more to match better with tail lights when closed.

It also made the trunk easier to close. Keep in mind that the trunk will close easier if you bring it down to within 6 inches of the latch, then give it a shove. If you try to shove it way up above the latch, you are fighting the hydraulic cylinders on the hinges.

I too noticed the RH/rear corner of the trunk lid sat up just a hair (hard to see, you'd have to feel it with your finger). So I tried to lower the bottom half of the RH lid hinge but the there wasn't a whole lot of up/down "slop" in the holes (LOTS forward and back for some strange reason). I did seem to get it to sit down a hair farther so the RH/rear corner looks acceptable to me. The end result was much better over-all than not.

Will Ford cover costs for repair of the damaged paint in that area?
