Hi folks!
I've never liked chrome, and all the shiny bits on the interior bugged me from day one. When the glare started distracting me, it was time to do something.
I remembered that Dave Pericek mentioned that all the bezels were real metal in a video.. and I remembered reading somewhere that the GT350 had brushed bezels.. so I grabbed some scotchbrite and went to town on it.
I'm very pleased with the results! It looks better and completely eliminates the distracting glare. The entire project took four hours and a small selection of tools - not bad for being half awake at 1AM.
I removed the dash panel in order to brush the gauge bezels. The remaining ones were masked off.
For the dash, I started by removing the three small plastic panels that cover the panel's bolts. Remove all the bolts you can find, then just pull the panel off. A trim tool helps here.. but once you get an edge up it's a matter of brute force. There are two kinds of bolts, so be careful! Reinstall with some loop side velcro on contact points to eliminate squeaks and rattles.
The perf pack gauge cluster comes out with a few torx heads. The metal trim piece comes off by removing some plastic welds, which I replaced with small dabs of JB weld. Don't worry if you bump the needles out of place, they'll automatically reset when plugged in.
Their bezels, as well as the shifter surround and some other bits are actually metal-coated plastic, so be careful to keep from separating the layers.
Here are pictures of the tools I used, the results, and my masking process in an imgur album.
